All the pro sunset people are saying that sunsetting isn’t invalidating our gear, because we can still use it in old content.
But then are also arguing that the DCV isn’t a bad thing, because nobody plays that old content anyway?
Which is it, folks?
Is our gear really still relevant if Bungie has deemed more than half of the places to use them irrelevant enough to remove from the game?

1 返信They are probably luke smith' s minions coming to his defense for making another brainfart decision. Funny thing is that he already tried this crap in d1 and nobody liked it. It was an infamous change to d1 that everybody were very vocal in pointing that they hated but here we go again sunsetting. I dont mind the dcv but i do mind sunsetting because it removes any and all incentive to chase anything because it will be obsolete in a year.

When was the last time you went to do a Lost Sector or a Heroic Adventure on Titan that didn't involve a bounty or getting a Milestone done? When was the last time you ran a lost Sector or a Patrol on Nessus? The content that Bungie is vauliting are some of the WORST PVP maps and game modes in the game, and content from Vanilla Destiny 2 that is THREE YEARS OLD. Do you really want to be running around in the same circles on Titan in 2022, when that content will be FIVE years old??
Is our gear really still relevant if Bungie has deemed more than half of the places to use them irrelevant enough to remove from the game?
Yes. Because they're going to be adding NEW places to use them.... A point that people who spend all their time crying about this always manage to forget. Bungie is removing all this stuff from the game, yet the install size for Beyond Light is BIGGER than the game is now.

2 通の返信You forgot the group of players that don’t care. I don’t have any sort of attachment for any piece of gear because I’ll come across something different or better

6 通の返信The gear isnt really that good and neither is the content.... and it will remain that way.

I slightly mind the gear being basically made irrelevant. I deeply mind content I PAID FOR being removed from the game. It's theft. It's taking away the product I paid for and providing absolutely no compensation. They haven't bothered to fix basic quality-of-life problems with the game, so this feels like complete theft. I paid for a product, and they're taking it away.

3 通の返信Nobody wants sunsetting, some of us have just played long enough to see it happen before a couple times in D1. People complained about it then, and moved on just fine, like we will in November. I agree with Aztecross when he says it's not a good way to balance, but I've lived through it before and would rather them take this easy way out of balancing and focus on making new content. Just my two cents

2 通の返信If loot wasn't so hard to obtain, sunsetting wouldn't matter at all. I never minded grinding out hours upon hours to obtain a weapon that I wanted to use in my typical arsenal. Some of those guns took over 100 FULL EP clears to get (beginning days of Escalation Protocol for the shotgun) or 100+ Bergusion Forge runs for that perfect random roll Pulse Rifle setup that highlighted targets as well. If these weapons were easier to obtain, I'd be all for weapon sunsetting every 12 months. To make said weapons available easier, make them available to purchase with IN-GAME CURRENCY ONLY thru Banshee or introduce a new Armorer NPC. Combine Glimmer, RANDOM kills, and levels to unlock a perk out of the entire list of perks from that slot. ie...say 1st slot on a Pulse Rifle has 10 perk choices, you get to pick one. Now the next time you meet level requirements, you can choose 1st perk pool slot or now go for a 2nd slot perk. This also would work on Armor, affinities, get rid of random roll engine and the HORRENDOUS RNG in this game, and actually bring back players. AND on top, Bungie gets to sunset weapons. There is one and only one down side to this....BUNGLE will make leveling so impossibly hard that you don't get any leveling done.

2 通の返信WatchTheWatcherにより編集済み: 8/22/2020 7:34:37 PMThey’re hoping (and that’s all it is - hoping) that the loot will be replaced with new fun stuff. Look at vinfox’s spreadsheet linked here: https://gamerant.com/destiny-2-weapon-gun-sunset-list/ That’s a big hole that Bungie committed to filling each year. Even with the expansion, that’s a thin loot pool. The second part is that there’s a reduced incentive to collect and optimize. Again the pro crowd is hoping that the in game economy will make it easier to masterwork viable gear. But without support and while working on other stuff - I’m pessimistic. Last part is - there’s no law that requires any of this, but you hear that over and over also. EDIT: I’m reconsidering the last sentence here after watching videos on the development of the Tiger engine. The law that Bungie may be up against is geometrically increasing complexity with each new object added to the game coupled with inefficient support tools in a bespoke engine: https://youtu.be/UU92a5pKV6k This has nothing to do with power creep, but does unfortunately impact player experience since the amount of “stuff” they can support - especially without Activision - is bounded. Tough problem.

You can use old gear in plenty of activities. For top tier stuff you'll need to use stuff within the previous year. Stuff is getting vaulted but there will still be activities you can use dated gear in.

31 通の返信What people don’t realize is that Bungie doesn’t have a choice. The Tiger engine has serious limitations that have already led to extremely slow load times on console and dozens of bugs after every update. If you think the game can grow infinitely, you aren’t paying attention.

2 通の返信
All the pro sunset people are saying that sunsetting isn’t invalidating our gear, because we can still use it in old content.
No, your gear isn't invalidated because you can use it in everything other than NEW END GAME. New Raids, New Dungeons, Trials, and Nightfalls. Thats it.
But then are also arguing that the DCV isn’t a bad thing, because nobody plays that old content anyway?
Do you patrol those four planets often? if so good for you, not gonna ruin the rest of the game for you though.
Is our gear really still relevant if Bungie has deemed more than half of the places to use them irrelevant enough to remove from the game?
Yes because you don't understand whats being Vaulted apparently
-
2 通の返信Sighs, Vanguard Strikes, PvP, Patrol Zones, these things allow you to use the old gear because of how low their Light is. So yes even though some stuff is being removed, you can still use your Mountain Top to slay enemies in the Dreaming City.
-
My main gripe is that sunsetting won’t stop the little -blam!- running around in Quickplay with Mountaintop, and sunsetting is Bungie’s excuse not to nerf it. So it’ll continue to be cancer in the main Crucible playlists.
-
1 返信For some bungie and destiny can do no wrong, others cant see past the hamster wheel, a select few have actually good arguments about it. Personally i'll just lurk around to see the fireworks once the new DLC and new subclass hype ends and honeymoon period is over and the state of things finally start to sink in. umm i wonder if and what the TTK/Forsaken will be this time around.

21 通の返信Do you also complain when streaming services add and remove old content ? I'd much rather have new content run smoothly then keeping irrelevant crap in the game just to appease a whining minority.
-
1 返信Lol you can still use you’re old gear on Nessus lost sectors, what are you complaining about
sarcasm
6 通の返信Not why I am for sunsetting. And its not even that I am really for it, I just realize it is necessary. Any loot game I've ever played does this.
