Nothing should be mandatory. The game should have choice, and does. If I don't want to play Crucible, I don't play it. Similarly, you don't HAVE to play Gambit if you don't want to.
If this is linked to the 10 Gambit games for the SoH armour, then it's not mandatory you get the armour. It's still choice to get the armour.

it was like Burger King's slogan. have it your way, but that was not true just like when they said play it your way and it was a Lie especially some of the catalyst requirements stated guardian kills hence you need to go into pvp to do it

Yeah. But you don't have to get a Catalyst. You can play without it. You see my point? I'm playing devil's advocate to be honest. It does suck that you have to do certain activities/challenges to get things.
