Ok so first point.
Your title and the content of your post are 2 completely different things that you're conflating.
Secondly, the coin thing is objectively better as strictly a reputation system.
Reason being, it performs exactly the same as the d1 system did, except in d2 it allows you to choose which character you want to put "reputation" into.
For example, I can grind crucible with my hunter, but then cash in tokens on my warlock, and get the crucible gear on my warlock.

You have no idea what fundamental value the system provides yet you defend this system. I don’t understand the forums sometimes. Honestly I think people are just so bored and looking for something to do that they pick a side and just wander forum posts responding to others, regardless of whether they agree with them or not.

I don't see having a level as a necessity. What I'm defending is this forum from itself lol. Removing tokens because people can't differentiate between the rewards and the tokens themselves would only hurt the players. Same thing with challenges, people complained and begged for bounties to return, and now they're mad they have to waste 45 minutes flying to the tower. When a simple request to improve challenges would've sufficed and gave us a much better system. People don't like tokens, and there's 0 logical reason as to why.

These Mexican Pesos, otherwise known as tokens, give me more RNG than I had in Destiny 1. In that game I rank up a vendor and get to choose between armor, weapon or chroma. With factions, I could use my reputation to get exactly what I wanted or roll the dice. I had a choice. In D2, you have none. And don't get me started on why this rewards system, as a whole, is dog shit.
