I really think that this use of vocabulary is historically and culturally very inappropriate. Just like the game current does not contain any "-godwinslaw!-" word (or maybe I don't know of its existence yet, but if it does, I don't approve of using that word either), I believe "kamikaze" to be same. It is not a synonym for self-destruct, it is an act of human degradation, one of many war crimes and crime against humanity done by a nation. And you cannot say that it was used as the meaning "the divine wind that neutralized invasion to Japan", because there is no such context in "giant kamikaze spaceship".
And yes, there are other games that use the words that I'm saying are inappropriate. While I do not personally approve them, they are usually games that have such context, that either the game contains such factions, the world is cruel and crude, and/or the characters are foul-mouthed or sinister or crazy.
From what I have played, I had the impression that the world Bungie is building in Destiny, and the character of Ana Bray does not fall under any of those above. Yes, Destiny world is post-apocalypse facing another apocalypse soon to come. But despite all feuds and bloodshed during the dark age, humanity of Destiny regrouped under noble causes and guardians stood to protect humanity. It was Bungie that separated light bearers to guardians, and Ana is a guardian. I really cannot understand Ana Bray using "kamikaze". Why would she use that word? There is a difference between carefree, casual personality to inconsiderate personality. I believed Ana Bray to be former, and I hope that Bungie will rethink about what vocabulary they are using to build and describe their characters and world.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our Player Support team escalated this earlier in the morning, but I wanted to be sure to let you know that your post has been seen. As Destiny is a global community, we do our best to avoid cultural issues like this from making it into the game. Many, many apologies that this made it through. We're looking at where the breakdown in our workflow occurred, and will be looking to prevent this from happening again in the future. Thanks again, -dmg

Censorship is the hallmark of a totalitarian ideology whose ideas cannot compete in the marketplace of free thinking. Funny you should mention godwinslaw. I'm sure they banned alot of words too. What a sad and intellectually bankrupt post...

puppyにより編集済み: 5/15/2020 3:47:54 PM@ everyone telling OP to grow a pair: firstly, OP is Korean. secondly, this basically boils down to us wanting the same kind of sensitivity that you treat n*** germany with. yeah to you guys it's just a word, but to us? that word is a reminder of the war crimes that we suffered (and still didn't really get an apology for!) would you guys use blitzkrieg in a conversation with a ww2 vet to describe a video game plot element? would you tell him to grow thicker skin? (eta: and before you say that well it was like 80 years ago now -- the relationship between america/germany and korea/japan is extremely different, and do you think it's possible to get over war crimes without proper apologies or reparations when there's still people, in 2020, who think that japan did korea a favour by colonizing it?) you guys don't get to decide what's offensive or not when OP is LITERALLY someone from the country that was victimized repeatedly by japan. yeah sure it's just a word to you. to you! and i'm pretty sure Korean people would just have been like god it's those dumbass americans again if BUNGIE WASN'T PROVIDING SERVICE IN KOREA. if they're going to expand into a new market, they should take care to, you know, treat it with the same sensitivity that it treats its western markets with. basically: OP has every right to feel that the word usage is insensitive. you lot need to learn how to at least pretend sympathy.

So what are the cabal doing than? What word can be used otherwise? You may want to elaborate because what else could it be called. A suicidal giant ship? There'd be more backlash using said word as suicide is a big issue throughout the world. Did you consider that before writing this post?

l HyperLethal lにより編集済み: 5/17/2020 2:06:12 AMSo what do you think about the giant cabal suicide bomber ship that tried crashing into "The Tower?" Or does that not offend you?

Exploder shanks. And. Cursed thrall What would you call those then if not for ingame/in lore mechanics.

Corrick IIにより編集済み: 5/17/2020 8:45:39 PMIs the term even accurate? Isn’t the Almighty’s navigation disabled and the ship unmanned? Isn’t it basically just a missile now? Aside from the surprisingly casual nature of the usage, I don’t even think they’re using the word in the right context.

Wow. You know what? As someone who identifies on the weekends as a four-armed creature that carries a staff and scavenges downed spaceships, I find it highly offensive that this game allows such grotesque violence against the Fallen. Every time I have to pop one of their heads off, I feel like I am being forced to sacrifice one of my brethren against my will. I am offended, therefore bungie better do something about it. Agree with me or you are a bad person.

Funny you have no problem killing stuff but a word offends you?????? Bingo if you let this little liar have his way it will be my personal mission to trash you on every outlet known to man. Twitter, you tube, FB, you name it and I will let everyone know how pathetic you are. The kids killing shit and blowing stuff up but is offended by a word.......... Yeah ok

FataLVisioN_Ooにより編集済み: 5/17/2020 10:32:46 PM🤔 but they weren't a war crime or a crime against humanity. They were just not so smart "smart bombs" of the 40's. By your logic during ww2 when the British loaded up a destroyer with 500 tons of explosives and commandos then proceeded to crash it into the Normandy dock during the nazaire raid that was also a war crime/ crime against humanity. They found German body parts 400 yards away when that destroyer blew up the dock. Crazy how one you are deeming as evil where the other was seen as heroic. War isn't pretty. You do what needs to be done. Let me guess... history is offensive and opressive therefore shouldn't be taught in schools either?

Should also put this on your radar... Satou Tribute quest from black armory... Satou is “Sugar” in Japanese, so we take this quest off the board because of offended diabetics located in Japan? Thats 12% of the population of 126 million... seems more of an killer impact than Kamikazes.
