Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our Player Support team escalated this earlier in the morning, but I wanted to be sure to let you know that your post has been seen.
As Destiny is a global community, we do our best to avoid cultural issues like this from making it into the game. Many, many apologies that this made it through. We're looking at where the breakdown in our workflow occurred, and will be looking to prevent this from happening again in the future.
Thanks again,

Absolutely do not entertain this notion. Unless of course you want to remove all the death in the game, because that offends me. Watching Guardians get turned into crystals hurts me. Watching countless enemies be decimated by myself and thousands of Guardians is to painful. Do not be sorry, unless you aren't actually, in which case don't lie and say you are.

So what will Bungie be doing about depictions of suicide bombings (curse thrall)? I mean if this is the slope to be chosen let's go all the way. But then again you don't want to piss off people who pay real money to rent exotics they have yet to earn eh?
-
Please explain to me how the word kamikaze is more offensive then you all making the plot of this season being a ship on a suicide bombing course towards a place called "The Tower" that's full of civilians. If this doesn't create 9/11 comparisons, I don't know what will. Also I'm sure you'll never respond to this, but it needed to be said to show your hypocrisy.

I think a "Giant 9/11 Spaceship" is a little on the nose. 9/11 isn't even an offensive term, and it is still more offensive than Kamikaze somehow. It could be the phrasing, but if it's just phrasing then Kamikaze is just phrasing as well, describing what this "giant spaceship" is about to do as an adjective and not the actual cultural events surrounding it as a noun.

sum12mezzwithにより編集済み: 5/17/2020 5:39:17 AMWait wait wait. So this has more precedent than retirement? Which do you think has more value, pissed off everyday(majority) gamers that value your games direction and concerns.... or some butthurt idividuals(very few) getting mad and leaving. Sounds simple yet you manage to dissapoint with your priorities.

No but we will have phrases like "starship that makes blood not flow due to high velocity on impact" instead of the K Word. Which is eine by me Im more interested in the lore cards than in the actuall cut scenes lol. But I see people will not like this

Unfortunately, that’s a real possibility in today’s world.

Steps to being a Bungie Community Manager: 1) Ignore 20 Posts concerning an issue "A" (sunsetting) that 99% of the community are objectively upset about. 2) Scroll down until you find a different Post "B" that only 1% of the community are subjectively upset about. 3) Address "B" and use it as an excuse to claim "I'm listening".

Thanks for the response, dmg. I was impressed. I support your decision and looking for the follow ups on the dialogue. And for the most of the people here who still upset with this decision, Yes, you could say 'it's just a game' --but it's not. The game referred reality, and that was truly inapporprate. That was the problem. And IT IS cultural issue. I know the most of the Americans(and the others) don't have discomfort with the word. I know how it used, and what it means. By now, you all should know what is 'kamikaze' in historical term. However, I see there are many people overlooking one fact here: There are also Korean and Chinese pilots who have been FORCED into the operation. They are not samurai. Victims. In the 35-year history of Japanese occupation over Korea, Koreans have suffered countless wounds. Some of the sufferings are still ongoing problem. Ana Bray, who has a ghost named 'Jinju'(means pearl in Korean) and has many other factors that she is related to Korea, she would never say the word without consideration. If you were making a character with different culture, you should know his/her background. And if a resistance to the character's behavior or its characteristics occurs in the community of the character's culture, you have to listen. This is respect when dealing with different cultures in creation. Now, some of you are upset with not giving clear answer to the update on armor system while answering to this OP. They had an ethical decision above the 'it's just a game' matters. They know what is more important. I also hope they can bring us reasonable alternatives to armors with expiration date. Have a nice, and safe day.

Unless you went through it, you’re basing it on whatever your family’s point of view is, not your own. It’s not even culturally offensive to all Japanese, because the reasons were politically motivated. I bet you weren’t taught that, just that Japanese were evil. Culture is taught, not facts. Learn the facts and history before attempting to be outraged at something from 70 years ago.
