I know this is gonna get a lot of hate but gotta say it. Hardcores are also part of the problem. They seem to hate the idea of a skill based matchmaking because they dont want to only fight other hardcore players and want to use these guns against the casuals and no skill players.
Now as for the use any gun and still slaughter the casuals part, why aren't they using anything other than NF? This goes to the second part of it all in that theres also the numbers and bungie usually seems to hate when the majority use a single gun all the time.
Now that I've said the bit of stuff that will get hate let's go onto some more factual items. Hardcore audiences will keep going in a game long after a company usually stops updating it or making new content but the game in the end will still be dying on life support basically. To actually keep a game alive you need new blood and more people buying the game, the doc, and merchandise to keep making the company money over time.
The game needs both casual and hardcore in a certain balance. Instead we have both sides in this game basically wanting to be at war with each other creating a bad environment for the game to grow.

1. We already have sbmm in 4/5 playlists. That's more then enough, not every playlist will revolve around the bottom half nor should it 2. I know a bunch of top tier players that go in with fun gear, snipers/last word, thorn, etc we even did trace rifles and only well of radiance once when we had a full team Games may need both casual and hardcore but hardcore make the back of the game, they're the ones who figure out the raid, dungeon, whisper type activites and share the best way to be successful for casuals, while casuals make the majority of the players there will always be new casuals who pick up the game when others leave - also casuals will always inevitably leave for the next big title

I see what you're saying and do have a few points I will admit I glossed over placing the hardcore as a whole stereotype deal. 1. Yes there are game modes with skill based matchmaking but the reason these complaints probably come up as no skill based matchmaking is that you have like three pvp game types? Yeah bad at phrasing but yeah three standard every week and one rotation based. Three standard are quick play that has none, rumble that does have it but its only rumble, and comp that has a very weird one and is 4v4 with game modes that aren't just clash and control. Out of these only quick play has 6v6 with these two game modes and it doesn't have sbmm so if casuals want any form of sbmm and play these in a usual week they have to go to comp with 4v4. Obviously mayhem has these aswell but mayhem is basically just a clash of supers and grenades last I checked so this is where the problem kinda falls and why I brought it up. 2. Yes there are a lot that do use other things and they tend to be the most fun to go against but question is, do they make the majority of the hard core side or just part of it? Now as for what the hardcore side does that helps casuals that is true. They find this stuff and make guides or go help people aswell to get them which is why I'm not doing like others and only saying the hardcore side is the problem. Casuals do leave and new ones come which is bringing new blood in but the idea is to keep them here wether they stay as a casual, become a hardcore, or somewhere in between is up to the community as a whole and the environment around the game. Problem is both sides are as I said basically trying to be at war saying the other side is the problem. Hardcore wants well harder stuff to complete and better loot to strive for while casuals will usually complain about something being over powered and only saying nerf it because they dont like using it or dont have it. This is where we need more middle ground pve wise creating challenging stuff but also have where casuals feel like they have a really good chance and enjoy it aswell. This is where hardcore can come up with ideas aswell though. Give bungie other alternatives that they might not think of or even have different versions of stuff like how trials of osiris had two versions of weapons when it comes to hard to get stuff. Anyways rambled on enough here. Lol

Exactly. Personally dont have either Luna or forgotten and have had small rage moments but never once thought if nerfing as the solution. Honestly my thoughts were always buff everything else to compete with them better wether it be making guns easier to use or giving them better optimal ttk
