Honestly, the game is beautiful. When it starts feeling redundant, I just wander around the different planets, looking at the different little details. ie: On IO, close to the Pyramidion, there are all kinds of Osiris relics and I even found one of the Trials of the Nine symbols. Kinda gives some feel of lore embedded into the scenery. It could be wishful thinking but what if we get a VoG style raid within the Pyramidion in a later DLC? Would be cool to meet up with Osiris to take down Quria and the Vex once and for all.
There's just more to it than the grind.

I just don't see that the same way that you do. Admittedly, I am more of a Casual Gamer than I used to be when I was younger, not because I don't like gaming as much but I just don't have as much time to login as I used to. The only point I could really offer up is that even when I was able to game for hours a day everyday, if I found a game that I truly enjoyed there was no amount of content in that game that could actually satisfy my hunger for it.

Well being a casual gamer is fine, Destiny 2 has plenty to offer you. But to people who enjoy a carrot to chase there's almost nothing. Easiest way to fix it is to give every weapon base stats in crucible. No exotic perks. Then for events like trials and IB let the exotics fly
