Two of the complaints I see regularly are:
1. I don't have any friends, and hate matchmaking and LFG, but I want to be able to do end game content.
2. Bosses are big long boring fights without dynamic/engaging/diverse encounters.
So, why not have a Raid designed for 1 person? They are on a mission seeking to acquire God like power from the Taken King or whatever. The boss battle at the end of the raid is their test, where they are given enough power to be equal in footing against 6 guardians.
The other side of the raid would pit the 6 guardians against the boss, a real person, with awesome new abilities, high DPS and incredible health.
You could even have there be some level of customization, like 3 ultimate classes that the 1 player chooses, so that the 6 don't fully know what to expect.
It would be a miracle of balancing, and there would have to obviously be some built in weaknesses and exploits for the 1 Boss guardian. But it would be strategy versus strategy. Both sides of the Final Raid boss would be able to dynamically respond to each other and be forced to adapt to new and unexpected methods.
This breaks down the typical sense of predictability and pattern common to Raid bosses in MMO and RPG games, but, like I said, some of those dynamics could be forced on the Solo player, like rage mode, supers, cool downs, critical hit points, crippling debuffs and health level ability changes.
This would make every time we grind through the raids each week a different experience, more like PVP, and it would lend itself to appease the solo players, and the group players who want more interesting boss fights. It would also give the raid two halves to beat each week. The solo side and the group side, each with their own appeal, loot and fun.
I think it's worth considering. Do you agree? I think it would be incredible. #BeAtheon #BeCrota #BeLegend

It would be interesting if you were huge like final bosses, but it might also be interesting if you were normal size just ridiculously powerful. Maybe if there were different sources for your power, Void, Solar and Arc, the abilities would be very different. Void is a stealth boss, Solar is a ranged hard-hitting boss, and Arc is a fast, mid range battle or something. Also, what if the boss had three different supers, in place of melee, grenade and super. Like spawning Atheon opening the time-stream and dividing the fireteam, and forcing players to kill oracles, or if Crota could summon the oversoul anytime his super recharged, or maybe it's an arena wide attack like Scorched Earth in POE. The boss player could choose which super to use to combat/respond to the raid team's tactics. It makes for a more flexible playstyle, if they have options of which super to use. And using one, depletes all of them.
