Sounds exactly like evolve... which isn't a bad thing, just saying

  • I haven't played evolve, how do they accomplish it? How does it work? Also, is it fun? :)

  • Essentially they have a 4 on 1 system but with 4 more defined character roles 1 tank/dps, 1 support which buffs players/ debuffs the monster a trapper which keeps cc active and a healer. Each class has a gun for basic dps as well as a few cool down skills that you're best off coordinating. The monster comes in 3 basic forms the bullet sponge melee. The ranged dps with average health or the squishiest high burst stealthy one. These all have their own particular cool downs to complement their play styles. It's pretty fun yeah although a bit unplayed now as it's been out a while. There's a few game modes either a straight up death match where you as players get the ability to be revived but have a lower hp pool each time you come back (caps after 2 revives) and as the monster you just have to be killed once. Or there's a few defend/destroy a certain objective modes. I'm not sure how destiny would be able to implement it with no real differences between character classes but it'd be an interesting thought.

  • That sounds really interesting! Is it usually a pretty balanced fight between the monster character and the team? It's a good point you bring up about differences between classes. I wonder if this is something that Bungie is going to be changing a little with Year 2 content. It seems like the hunter's new class is going to be support at least.

  • It's pretty balanced yeah. There's 2 main options to play either you start off as a baby stage 1 monster which is weak and easy to kill and you have to sneak around and eat npc animals to evolve into a stage 2 which is about on even footing with a team of hunters and if they still haven't managed to track and kill you you can reach stage 3 which is at an advantage. Larger hp pool more skills etc. It's still feasible to kill a stage 3 monster but if you're not playing as a team using traps and support etc it is very much an uphill battle. Or there's an option where you spawn as a stage 2 and you just straight up fight the team of hunters. but I haven't played that more than a few times as hunting/sneaking around was more my style.

  • That's really cool! It makes me want to play Evolve. I think for destiny, there would not be the hunting/growing feature, but rather, the 6 guardians emerge after fighting their way through to the super guardian gone bad, and then they fight. But, I think the more complexity and interestingness you can add to the fight, the better. So, maybe there should be some level of progression, advantages and disadvantages.
