Light level was a terrible concept because progression was not within your control. You "leveled up" if you were lucky enough to obtain gear with higher light values. In HOW, it was dumbed down with armor cores and Etheric light.
The way they're changing level progression allows everyone the chance to reach max level if they put in the time. We only need to grind for better armor for improved defense values.
They're giving us more control over progression, and that is definitely my favorite change. I will participate in the "King's Fall" raid mainly for fun now.
