Each weapon/armor has a lvl rank to them.
If you get a higher piece that you are unable to use and try to infuse it into a piece you are currently using the higher lvl will be applied to that piece making it unusable.
Example - you are lvl 20 using lvl 18 foetracker, you pick up a higher helmet - you infuse a lvl 43 helmet into a lvl 18 exotic - the exotic is now a lvl 43 item as a lvl 20 player you are unable to use this item.

well, i know that happens, thats exacly why i made this post, i want to know why i can infuse some of them and still use It and why some of them cant be used anymore, whats is the criteria? right know i feel totally Lost because the game doesnt give me any information about that, i had to try It myself.

1) know your level (currently 20) 2) check the equipment - what is that level, if it is over 20 it will be red barred and you can not use it. 3) do NOT infuse equipment that is above your level into something are using/want to use because it will take on the higher level. for as long as I have had this game it has been this way. you have to be careful until you get to 50. once at 50 everything is open. just because it is a higher light level does not mean you are going to be able to immediately use it. I held onto many pieces until I leveled up 3 levels some times at which point they became obsolete. Best way to get to 50 is complete story line, next complete bounties, after that complete daily and weekly challenges (which can coincide with bounties).

If you complete a daily bounty or weekly bounty - you will get a higher LL equipment that will be of the level you are. that might be where you have found yourself at times. Say you do a crucible and get the daily done - as a lvl 20, you will get a lvl 20 purple 5 light levels higher than you currently are. infusing it will work everytime. but say you do Heroic Public Event on Dreaming City and you get a lvl 30 purple 5 light levels higher - you can not use that right now, you would have to level up - and if you were to infuse it, whatever you put it in will not be able to be used until you get your character to level 30 as well.

yea yea, you guys are trying to be smart about such a Basic thing, thats completely normal on other games, for sure, but i havent played any game till this day that does not warn me about It. Plus, you guys are not adressing the issue that i can use my thunderlord 500 Power lv, should not It be restricted too?

Yes, it should also be locked. That said, you may be able to use it because it was a quest item. You may find that they patch it like a bug. These guys aren't making fun, they're simply telling toy how the game mechanics generally work.
