“He doesn’t want larger people shopping in his store, he wants thin and beautiful people,” Lewis said. “He doesn’t want his core customers to see people who aren’t as hot as them wearing his clothing. People who wear his clothing should feel like they’re one of the ‘cool kids.’”
imo he's bastard and a sick man.

I dont care. Ok so they are making clothes only for fit people. I dont see the problem with it and i dont even wear those clothes. Yea the CEO is a jerk, but you know what hes honest. At least hes not going to lie like all these other CEOs. When is the last time you saw a heavy set/plus sized model for American Eagle, areo, banana repub, H&M and GAP? You dont. Im big, i can say that no problem. Im not going to get all upset bcs one clothing brand doesn't cater to my size and openly refuses. Thats what children do. If i do lose weight it wont be to fit into overpriced T shirts with a seagull on them.

2 RespuestasIt's his store. Honestly, from a business standpoint, it makes sense. He has a certain image for the store and that's fine imo. Bare in mind, I'm just responding to the quote, I haven't actually read the article. Also, I'd like to point out that he didn't actually say he didn't like fat people, much less hated them. He just has a certain image for his chain, and that I can respect, or at the very least accept.

1 RespuestaGood, maybe fatties will actually get up off their asses and do something if they can no longer buy the clothes they want.

1 RespuestaYes, he's a superficial SOB, and that's a terrible rationalization, but there is also a viable economic reason for the company's decision. Amongst the 16-30 year old demographic (of well-to do white people, largely) what percentage of that group is going to fit into the obese category? If your target market doesn't generally include larger people, and you begin producing clothing with XXL and XXXL measurements, those pieces won't sell in the same bulk amounts as mediums and larges. It's a profit loss. i.e. He's a shit for saying that, but his profit analysis team has probably given him a legitimate reason for this. If they haven't, then he's a fool and a jerk.

1 RespuestaIt's a niche. Companies appeal to specific types of customers. It's like saying people that wear brand name clothes are bastards and sick people if the poor can't afford the same.

2 RespuestasHave you seen his face? He seems a bit hypocritical about only letting good looking people in his store. Though I agree in principle - fat people need to be shunned.
