I love how even after a Gambit rework, hardly anyone plays it and now people are still somehow upset that it's not getting more resources. People want more PvP maps, yet when Bungie finally gave them one (Disjunction), people said it was trash and endlessly whined about it. No wonder Bungie isn't giving either playlist more attention.

People want maps and variety. Tweaking the mechanics are fine but adjusting stale content is still stale content. They put the bare minimum in and the play base recognized it. It was an obvious response. Every piece of content is coin flip on how it will be received. A single PvP map that was poorly received does not mean the next one will be bad too. They just use it as an excuse for minimal effort. Expansions are the same way. If you don’t put in the effort then the community WILL notice and respond accordingly. Care was obviously given to Witch Queen and it was well received. Meanwhile Lightfall was a tossed together cash grab and thus they were called out on it

  • Gambit is literally the lowest level of content. PvP, nor Gambit is carrying the game's success. The reason Lightfall was initially poorly received was because of the difficulty changes, and people's inability to understand the plot of the campaign. People are always calling out Bungie for something, that's nothing new. As much as I would like them to hire a dedicated PvP team, I would rather the devs continue to put the resources into the content that is making the game objectively successful.

  • Lack of any kind of effort has allowed it to become the very bottom. None of the “core” playlists have gotten attention. The only reason strikes are in a better spot is because they have gotten scraps from seasonal activities. But no Lightfall was received poorly because it was slapped together and there was no relevant story. The whole “plot” took place in the middle of a cutscene, and had enough substance to maybe be a mission. It was a low effort cash grab and now they are continuing to make excuses for their lack of effort

  • The PvE side of the game is carrying and where the success is, especially endgame. The rest of your post is purely option. I understood and enjoyed the Lightfall campaign.
I love how even after a Gambit rework, hardly anyone plays it and now people are still somehow upset that it's not getting more resources.
Gambit had it's most in depth rework with Gambit Prime, which tied into Reckoning for the armor grind and weapons, everything was perfect'ish (always space for improvement) but bungie gutted it all out to put basic gambit (but with the gambit prime boss phases and envoys so you can't instagib the boss, since that always has been unfair as heck) back into the game because "keeping both Gambit and Prime together in the list maintained and fresh is tooooo hard", so bungie listened to the noobs who prefered noob friendly normal Gambit over prime They can't even be bothered putting back into the game gambit/pvp maps they've also gutted out, not because they don't have the assets most likely archived somewhere in some of their servers but because gluing it to the game and making sure theres no issues means they'd have to do some work (which is less than if they'd have to create new maps, the old content is already all done, so less work required) but you know what that means right? "It's too hard"
People want more PvP maps, yet when Bungie finally gave them one (Disjunction), people said it was trash and endlessly whined about it. No wonder Bungie isn't giving either playlist more attention.
Maybe if they'd make polls on player feedback asking what people wanna play on/in/with (like they do for skins now) before doing work MAYBE they wouldn't get said "whining" about trash content being... trash. We are not to blame, period. They did this to themselves, communicating beforehand would save them more valuable time, effort, miney, etc. We are not the issue.

  • Rose colored glasses. People didn’t like gambit prime because those gear sets had to be farmed outside of gambit inside of reckoning. A lot of people couldn’t complete reckoning on a consistent basis. Guess what set was most complained about? I hope you guessed the invader set. It was far from perfect. This community is the problem and the fact that it can’t look in the mirror and see that is an even bigger problem. Bungie is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. They will never satisfy PvP centric players.
It was far from perfect.
didn't say it was, but it deserved improvements
This community is the problem and the fact that it can’t look in the mirror and see that is an even bigger problem.
the community is partially at fault, they complained, bungie scrapped all of it because it was "harder" to improve it than get rid of it to make the default-gambit noobs happy they couldn't git gud
Bungie is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. They will never satisfy PvP centric players.
destiny should've never had pvp, that was bungies fault for making it, now they have to bother dealing with it, if destiny were a pve only game we'd be playing Final Shape by now

  • Typical bungie logic. Build the whole game around levelling, the key aspect being to push people into core playlists to use old content. Not update content in 4 years, then remove levelling, then double down saying they're never updating the core playlists, nor bringing levelling back. Leaves what exactly? The seasonal stuff, which is being watered down in final shape to not have an activity nor story. So what's there's gonna be to do? Old raids, 2 dungeons a year only 10% ever play. Trials & banner with the same old awful loot & armour. Legit being treated like they want this franchise to end pronto

  • no -blam!- no one plays gambit - the rework was actuall dogshit. U cant put little to no work into a gamemode and then a year later say: "look no one plays it, whe should kill it completly"

  • Doesnt matter does it? It was -blam!-, and people showed it. Bungie could've done a lot to change it up, but to neglect it would never help, and is never going to help. To say "we gave the players.. something, but no one is using it so we dont care about it" is saying A LOT about their connection to the game and to their customers.

  • It actually does. Imagine if someone bought gives you a gift. Instead of accepting it graciously, you tell them that it's garbage and that you didn't want it. Do you think that person is going to give you anything else? Community: *asks for new map* Bungie: *gives new map* Community: "it's trash, it sucks, etc." Bungie: "ok, we're gonna put our resources into stuff people like and are actually playing." Community: *Pikachu meme* It's fine that people don't like it, but the pure toxicity towards Bungie for making a map that wasn't liked (they don't have a crystal ball) is stupid and childish. This is how y'all wanted it.

  • No it actually doesn't matter because what done is done. What does matter is how you act upon it. Accept that it wasnt an especially good, fun, game mode and act accordingly, ooor do not accept that you made a poor game mode, blame the players and turn away from it.

  • That's not why Bungie isn't giving these game modes attention. It's because their decision making in how they address these modes are things that no one wanted. Maybe if they made better decision making and made good maps, people wouldn't complain as much.
