Destiny is a LIVE SERVICE. Which means that you are paying for constant access to a SERVICE that is maintained throughout the year. At $40, just the cost of an expansion, you are paying $3.30 a month to access the game. Which means you get ACCESS to the content, that is actively maintained for a month, for $3.30. At $80, for the "deluxe" edition. you are paying $6.60 a month for the same thing PLUS seasonal content. At $100, for the "uber-deluxe" edition, you are paying $8.30/month, for all of that PLUS, some extra goodies. No one is ripping you off. No one is "pay walling" the game. No one is cheating you. Even if you buy the most expensive offering, IT COSTS LESS THAN JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER SERVICE. How many hours you play in a month? Me? I play about 14 hours a week, roughly a couple of hours before bed most days. That's about 56 hours a month. So, if I buy the uber deluxe edition the game is costing me... FOURTEEN CENTS AN HOUR. An hour of entertainment, for less than a quarter. Is the game perfect? Nope, tons of issues that need to be looked at. But a rip off? A scam? Um, no. I challenge ANYONE to find something equivalent that costs what Destiny costs. Sheesh...
