rarest armor piece is still heart of Praxic (destinyxur.com)
The Heart of Praxic Fire and skull of dire Ahamkara and ATs/8 Arachnid are the only 3 exotic armor pieces never sold by Xur. Skull seems more common though to be dropped by RNG. I haven't seen a person with Heart on in months.
Edit: destinyxur.com to see all items ever sold.
Edit 2: if you got if from a chest engram that isn't what were talking about here so please clarify this to not confuse people to think it was actually sold. The upgrade also doesn't count as you must possess said item first
Edit 3: T Roy finally pulled the "I was just trolling" card that all incorrect people pull when their feeble minds finally can't handle that their argument was wrong

I've gotten like 4 of them from nightfalls. My first one was from a chest engram and got the upgraded version from the last devils' lair nightfall strike

I've gotten 3.... Only other warlock armors I got through RNG are Skull of Dire Ahamkara and Sunbreakers.

Have it on with the Bittersteel shader and IB gauntlets and think it is the only thing that looks as good as the Voidvang. I equipped it immediately at the Cryptarch, turned around and the first guardian I saw had HotPF on.

I am well aware of this. 6-9 engrams and 3 nightfalls a week since release is not enough. But hey! at least i can use dual wield gjallarhorns on all three characters at once!
