I've been playing Destiny since the beta. Love it. Do I see issues? Sure, but by and large I love this game.
Anyway I mostly stick to solo PvE. Bounties, daily heroics and vanguard playlists across 3 characters keep me busy enough.
In finding people to do the nightfalls with I've met a couple guys who raid. And occasionally they invite me to raid. Most times I politely refuse.
Today two youngins invited me to do a fresh vog nm run. I was hesitant so they proceed to assure me that it was easy and they could talk me through it. Most times I say no. Today I said yes.
It was just the 2 of them so i found another group of 3 on a LFG site and away we went.
It. Was. A. Sh!t. Show.
I won't go into all the details but here's a couple highlights. Youngin number 1 quits midway through the templar. "Gonna go eat". Youngin number two gets mic issues. Wipes repeatedly. The other 3 from the LFG site want to kick him but decide against it.
I hold my own. But at the platforming section I fail repeatedly. And the 2 that I came with can't talk me through it, ones gone and the other is effectively sans mic. At atheon it gets worse. I'm completely lost. And I don't want to admit that I'm a raid virgin.
We're wiping more than someone with IBS. One of the other guys leave. We try a couple times with 4. Wipe, wipe, wipe. And I don't know what I'm doing. Eventually I leave. And I feel like a piece of sh!t.
Anyway I send a message to the LFG guys. Apologized. They were solid, we ruined their raid.
Exiting that message I notice a message I sent to random like a week ago. While on patrol I saw a 26 trying to open the vog by himself. I sent him a message telling him it's a 6 man thing. He replies with a "wanna do it?" I say that I don't raid and direct him to a couple LFG sites.
It's the "I don't raid" that catches my eye. I don't raid. It's a truth that I embrace today. I've read a ton of reviews and articles about destiny. The raids are often cited as the best thing in game. Maybe for some. But I don't like relying on others, and I don't want others relying on me.
I won't be raiding. Atheon, nor Crota, nor the enormous shank that I assume will be the final boss in the HoWs will fall by my hands. I just don't find it fun. It's long, it's stressful. Sure the rewards are unique and better than anywhere else. I want a fatebringer in destiny more than a hovercraft in real life. But that's the sacrifice I'm willing to make.
Bungie's clearly focused a lot of attention in the raids. I understand why. So this isn't a "fix this!" post. Just a rant. A very long rant. Sorry.
Edit: thanks guys for the support. At it's core this community is a great one. To be clear this was my 3rd vog attempt from a random invite. The other 2 were far worse. Yeah I should have told the LFG guys that I was a noob, but after the other issues with the 2 I brought with me I was trying to avoid a "then there's this fu€king guy!" moment. Stupid. Thanks for the invites to raid but I meant it when I said I won't be raiding. Not for right now anyway. Thanks for reading!
Edit 2: corrected spelling. And I'm on Xbone BTW
Edit 3: last one, promise.
Okay so a lot of comments that I should "raid with my group". Again, I appreciate each and every invite. You guys rock. Now scroll down. There are tons of comments from raid noobs down there. They need the help, the guidance and the patience that you are so willing to offer to me. Leave no Guardian behind.
Also a lot of "don't let one bad experience..." comments. I totally hear what you're saying.
The Raids are meant to be the pinnacle of the Destiny experience. Everything is heighten. The time investment, the challenge, the required communication and teamwork, the rewards. Everything is set to 11. And as such the act of finding a team and tackling it is emotionally investing. Which makes the ultimate success and ensuing lootgasm all the richer
But it cuts both ways. The fear of failure, shame of sucking, the disappointment in a fireteam's desertion, the annoyance of the OP's alliteration. All these emotions are heightened as well. You can't have one without the other I guess. No risk no reward. Personally I'm saving my emotional investment and unwavering commitment to the other thing in my life: good job, great friends, an amazing GF and a house that almost always seems to have something breaking or falling off it. That's not a judgment on the rest of you. I admire you die hard raiders. And I will continue to watch your youtube vids with awe and admiration. Good luck and RNGod's speed Guardian.
TL;DR Turns out DeeJ's been writing a Lethal Weapon sequel in his spare time. Lethal Weapon Engram. Titan Murtaugh and Hunter Riggs are revived by a Joe Pesci voiced Ghost to battle the Darkness and investigate the disappearance of the Speaker's teenage daughter, the Texter.

Editado por The One And Only: 2/2/2015 4:50:25 PMI have a bud who feels about the same way with raids. He's level 31, 30 and 30 and never did any raids except for the gorgon CP that I offer him and the solo Crota sections that I offer him as well. I finally got around to convincing him to raid this next week. He saw me complete Crota and Atheon within an hour and got excited. I plan to help him on Crota normal first and then VOG normal. As long as you got some good mates to run with, raids can be fun even if they take a long time. I've helped my fair share of people with raids and NF and I find it's rewarding even though extremely time consuming. If you get a good group (not an easy task mind you), raiding is definitely the most enjoyable and rewarding experience Destiny can offer. EDIT: Also I'd offer to take you on a raid but I'm on PSN. I'm sure you can find a lot of good people on this board or LFG that are willing to help you out.

1 RespuestaThank you! Someone who feels the same way I do! I am lost in VOG too. I had a few successful VOG runs before the patch where the teleporting is randoml. I hate being teleported. Much more comfortable staying back and shooting Harpies. Dont get me started on the jumping puzzle. Crota I find less complicated.

If you have the time watch some Youtube vids of VoG clears. This will give you a better idea if what to do when you're ready.

2 RespuestasI think you should be able to play the game however it is you want to play it but I think you are missing out on the best part of Destiny. Sure the first couple times running through it can be stressful but once you get the hang of it they can be a lot of fun.
-
2 RespuestasAlways nice to see a relateable post. I tend to have the same thoughts on raids. Never seek out groups and only end up in them when someone asks me to help out. Solo is always my preference when I have a choice.
-
Dude, you had a bad team with the 2 kinderguardians thats all. Communication is key and it doesnt have to be stressful at all. I have a great raid group and we can guide you thru with ease. Got 3 FB myself it was was a great night when i got my first. If you ever change your mind hmu: SixPathxTSUNAMI.

Editado por Striker93175: 2/2/2015 4:17:22 PMIt's ashame. If you find a good group to raid with its a lot of fun. I don't need anything from vog but still run it. Hard is a breeze now. Even after we clear it for the week some times we run it again more that week just because it is fun.
-
You are not alone in how you feel about raids. It took me 4 hours to get through last time I did VOG. The loot keeps bringing me back.
-
I think youre viewing the raid incorrectly. You say you don't like relying on other people to do the work for you. I get that, and thats a good style to play, as it forces you to be better at the game. The reason the raids are considered the best content is the strategy and teamwork required to beat it, and the feeling of success you get the first time you beat it. ( this statement is more in line of VoG than CE, as VoG was leaps and bounds better than CE ). It's a way to socially get together with 5 other gamers and mess stuff up. Sorry it didnt seem to pan out well for you. I for one dont run any raids with " youngllins ". That tends to always be a problem.
-
I don't raid. I agree with every single thing you've written, with one MAJOR exception: dude, I want a hovercraft so fukcing bad.
-
If your on ps4 add me XXRAINXXBOWXX55
-
I didn't raid until close to TDB coming out. I was lvl 29 and maxed gear for what I could actually get. I finally got around to doing the raid because I knew they would probably never add matchmaking to it and I felt I was missing out on half the game. It was a great first raid and I wondered why I never tried it before. Now I do raids every week on two characters. It's funny thinking how I used to be by never wanting to raid, to being the swordbearer in hard mode crota.
-
You shouldn't let 1 bad experience stop you from raiding it's quite fun if you have a nice group
-
You must've joined the shittiest group of all time. The vault of glass takes about 40 mins tops from start to finish. I run it with randoms on lfg every time with no issues. Please find a competent group on lfg and try the raid. It's not stressful at all. I remember the first time I ran the vault of glass and it took 4 hours. It was frustrating, but probably the most exciting thing I've done in the game. It was actually a challenge and have great rewards. I'd recommend trying it again with a group that knows what they're doing
-
If you want fatebringer. Me and my guys can 5 man it, you can just join and get some lunch well hook you up. Raiding is a good time tho. Give t a shot with a better group of guys, not kids who are patient. We do the VOG once a week on normal just for fun, no one cares if we die, no one cares if we wipe.

Editado por Pliskade: 2/2/2015 2:57:14 PMThe Raids in this game suck, when the get buggy, but when everyone has a good connection, and knows what to do, they can be really fun. Find a group of people who you enjoy playing with. Don't raid with people who get angry if things aren't going smooth. With a good group of people, the wipes can be just as fun as completing the actual raid. Raids provide powerful weapons and armor, but the real purpose of a raid, in any game, is to bring large groups of people together. EDIT: don't shy away from random invites. They can be a chance to find good people to play with. One of the guys I meet from a random invite is a terrible player, but makes the whole group laugh so hard it is worth the numerous wipes. Also, if you get a random invite, jump in, and the people on the other end of the mic sound to be 13. Thank them for the invite and leave. Not trying to stereotype, but young (teen and preteen players) tend to be the worst group of players you can get paired with.

Editado por Reformed4215: 2/2/2015 12:13:23 PMI'm sure I'm not the only one to say something along the following lines, but.... Raiding, when done with the right mix of competent and communicative people, is the most rewarding experience one can have in Destiny. I've been fortunate to find such groups on my first runs through VoG and CE. On subsequent runs I've had experiences similar to yours. It's frustrating. It can take a bit just to get a Raid started, so I understand how a first experience like yours could only serve to validate your suspicions. However, I urge you to stick with it. You will find a good group eventually. Once you do, write their names down, friend them, favorite them. However you have to do it. I have a list of people I've successfully raided with for easy reference. Good luck!
-
I did not Raid until 2 weeks ago, then I joined https://www.the100.io/ I have completed Crota's End twice now and it is brilliant, I really recommend it. Join the above group or look for Public games, you will not regret it one bit. Good luck.

1 RespuestaIm a bit of a raid noob, I get the essentials but I haven't really used the relic at all on vog and I haven't used the sword yet on Crota. Haven't beaten either on hard yet, im a 31 Titan. I understand the basics.. The two things that annoy me most about raids are the players who quit early for "dinner" and whatever other excuse... And the lag... I've had some Great games without any lag.. But about 1/3 of the time, there's at least one or two instances of lag. Atheons health randomly rejuvenating.. An ogre not spawning.. Shit like that. Wiping gets old. Over all though I love the raids, they're just incredibly difficult. Like literally the only way to beat a raid on hard is if everyone on your team is knowledgeable and experienced... And a 32 for Crota.. I understand the normal raids can be done to get more experience.. But there's something about this game that irks me. Idk if It's the layout of the maps, but for instance I hate how when doing omnigal on lvl 30, you're forced to camp the beginning room, on pretty much every stage of the strike. It gets a little beat. But I love the game.
-
Yeah; I can see why Raids don't appeal to everyone. I only do it when I'm feeling adventurous. But finding the right fireteam can make a world of difference. I did CE hard for the first time last night, (I only knew one other player) and I'm thankful everyone seemed to be at least close to my age (32). Nothing against the younger gamers but the odds are high you and I aren't going to connect.
-
I strongly suggest finding a clan... Randoms on LFG are usually more forgiving than posters here but not by much. It's so much easier to jump into a group where everyone knows each others roles and doesn't really need to rely on you. These groups often run raids for the fun of it and don't get frustrated by wipes (if they do, find a different clan). A normal mode run in either raid should be relatively easy for most seasoned players so the group you were running with probably wasn't the best either... as far as the jumping puzzle goes, that's just practice. Everyone sucks at that early on. Raids are meant to be fun and shouldn't induce anxiety. Find a clan whose description says exactly that. It's definitely worth trying again and you'll find some friends to help with bounties, nightfalls, etc too.
-
The raid is terrible. It is an elitist playground of easy or the worst experience ever. I have two sets of friends that Raid and I often get left behind as they knock it out early in the week. There is no incentive for those that can do it to foster others through other than bro fist, but the week after week I get it I wouldn't want to do the raids more than I needed to. I am resolved to treat the raids as interesting side shows but not the reason to play and to not get worked up on it at all. Sort of the same approach I take on exotics. It's not even in the game if it's not in my inventory, so my game is always just fine.

2 RespuestasYou sound like a quitter to me
We're wiping more than someone with IBS.

why are r u looking at my profile? have i upset u in some way? please accept these cookies and my heartfelt apologizes. also there are no cookies.
You crack me up, man. Too bad you're on Xbox. Maybe that's your raiding problem? lol No, it's actually the randoms you're doing it with. If I can solo the Normal Crota's End, but I can't do it on HM with 5 randoms, that is your exact problem with VoG even.

Funny how your characters are stuck on 31 like that, you should have all 32s. Too bad
