Am I a bad person because I dont want to have kids?
It seems like every time the topic of having kids comes up, im the only one who doesn't want to have any. When I tell people this, they usually have a strong reaction to my decision. They act like what I just said was an awful thing, and they're like "well why not?" What do you guys think? Is it really wrong for someone to not want to have babies?
Edit: Im amazed at how overwhelmingly supportive everyone is (although there have been a few trolls). Keep giving your opinions about this topic (favorable or unfavorable) because I think it's a relevant cultural issue that isn't discussed very often. Thanks everyone.

I'm nearly 50, I made a conscious decision to not have kids very early on. I could go into my reasons, but again, no offense, it's no one else's business. My wife also was of the same mindset (though she was a little more torn), but we lived together for seven years before marriage so we both knew. There are some very serious ramifications to your decision that you need to be aware of, primarily end of life decisions. Unless you have siblings that you're close with, and those siblings have children whom you're close with, you need to be prepared to have no support network. There will come a time when you are completely alone. This can be both terrifying and liberating.

And i really hate parents who dont teach there spawn respect, manners, and common courtesy. Bunch of rude ass lil jits running rampant is what we have out there. I would like to add some more as there are some good points in here. I dont think i would hate every kid. I am sure there are plenty out there who were raised right by good parents. Its the jits raised by idiots who create more disrespectful idiots. My feelings on this come from working face to face customer service. S'all good, if you don't want em, that's fine. I'm guessing the people who get defensive about it might be lumping you in with the category of people that actively dislike children. [i]Those[/i] people are annoying, usually due to them being about as mature as children themselves. Not wanting kids isn't bad, it's just a preference. Hating them for no good reason or wishing harm on them would be a different matter, but you don't sound like that kind of person.
