It's a bit ridiculous that there are people out there who are level 20+ in a certain faction and haven't gotten a shader while there are others who have reached level 8 and obtained it. They need to be purchasable after reaching a certain rank, much like how you need a certain rank to purchase Eris's shaders. Hard work needs to be rewarded, RNG is absolutely ridiculous.

EDIT: Before this gets implemented, there needs to be a vote to kick option to prevent people AFKing Strikes to rank up in a certain faction.
EDIT 2: Saying things along the lines of "quit crying" or "it's RNG, deal with it" will result in a mute. Your fanboyism is not welcome here as it contributes nothing to the discussion.
EDIT 3: Great point by Star Gazer2:
There is absolutely no need for these shaders to be randomly dropped for us, they don't give any perks, upgrades, or any enhancements. THEY'RE JUST COLORS BUNGIE. Exotics were meant be harder to acquire than legendaries, faction shaders are legendaries. Bungie if you gave these shaders such a low drop chance, why not change them to exotic shaders or something, would make more sense. But again, Xur comes along and sells these exotics, exotics that change can the way we fight, sometimes making Crucible players cry for nerfs. Nobody is crying about shaders being OP or anything so what is the deal, why make it so hard for us customize our characters the way we want to, because we can't customize our armor, no, we need this and this and this to be 32. Give us our chance to customize with colors instead of making colors practically impossible to acquire. If I get my shader by next rank, I will take back most of the things I said except for why is it so hard to get.
p.s. btw rank 26 in Dead Orbit and still no shader.
5 RespuestasNah man, everything has to be RNG. Bungie should also remove the weapons and armor from the vendors and only have them sell the class items. Then they should make it a 99% chance to get emblems from leveling up the faction with a 1% chance for armor, weapons, ships, or shaders. Everyone loves excessive RNG, right?

3 Respuestasupdate: rank 39 in dead orbit... still no shader
-
I voted yes BUT considering max rank is 100...if you haven't gotten it by then...something's wrong lol
-
2 RespuestasNo why people like u want to get handouts , it's simple level up and pull your head in and do it like the rest of us, omfg
-
2 RespuestasI got revenant at LVL 12 I deserved it and you didnt
-
Omg yes.. Been grinding dead orbit for months and still no shader... So annoying
-
1 RespuestaTHIS! I don't understand why Bungie won't let us customize any of our characters the way we want to. We can't wear the armor we want and stay level 32 and we can't even wear the shader we want because we can't obtain them no matter how hard we work for it! I truly despise this RNG method it's terrible. I can understand RNG for items like the Vex Mythoclast but for shaders? Ugh. BUNGIE something really needs to be done about this. There is no reason for this, seriously just let us buy them as soon as we reach a faction rank 20, that's it. I'm rank 19 right now with New Monarchy and it took me FOREVER to get there and I've been using that faction class item since November so that's a long time I know I should have at LEAST one faction shader by now.

I mean it makes sense. Why have eris' shaders unlockable and not the other factions. Such an inconsistent game from shaders to currency. I'm quite curious to see how many different forms of shards and energies bungie can come up with.. Haha

2 RespuestasEditado por SilentRival: 1/4/2015 5:16:21 AMI have mixed feelings on this. At the very least id like to see guaranteed drops of them at set levels. What I do want to see is the 40+ other shaders that are in the files but not yet available. I was seriously pissed when they said "we're adding new shaders to the shader vendor." Then all they do is add three shaders that were already available /facepalm

11 RespuestasI would pay 200 crucible marks for Bittersteel without a second thought.
-
No, we want to be a special snowflake. jk. Yeah I'd like a white'n'black shader and get rid of that ugly faction cape for once and for all.
-
2 RespuestasI would have them sell the shaders Eris-style, but bump the ranks a bit. Maybe 3, 5, and 10?
-
4 RespuestasI've been saying this for about a month or two now. It's ridiculous that the faction shaders are harder to get than exotics are. If Xur can sell exotics, then the faction vendors should sell shaders.
-
1 RespuestaNo. Then they wouldn't be "rare".
-
4 RespuestasNo because it keeps people looking different. I don't have any btw.
-
+1 million. I have never received a faction shader and they should be purchasable. I stopped leveling dead orbit because it felt like a waste of time.
-
1 RespuestaThe worst part about this is they know good and well how easy it is to make faction shaders purchasable. THEY HAD THE OPTION IN THE ALPHA. I'm not crying. It just seems a little ridiculous to work THAT hard for just a shader and getting the short end of the stick every time. Your loyalty to a faction should be rewarded just like how you can buy their weapons, class items and emblems. I'm personally level 25 with dead orbit and I haven't gotten one shader. At this point it just seems a little ridiculous as it had no real impact on gameplay whatsoever. It's purely cosmetic. Let us put the work in and actually earn how we want to look and not just be kind of lucky. This is an easy fix, it's just shaders. P.S. Just to add a little side note, the Eris faction is the way shaders should be done. The only fix you would need is to make the ranks higher and show them so we have something to work for in each faction.
-
1 Respuestai would say you can still randomly get them but: after rank 15 you can purchase the first for 5k glimmer after rank 25 you can purchase the second for 7k glimmer after rank 35 you can purchase the third for 10k glimmer and after 45 you can purchase all of them / the last one for 12k glimmer. maybe even spend some commendations on them, they are just sitting in our inventory anyways...
-
3 RespuestasI have managed 1 shader from new monarchy and have never seen it on anyone else... I do not want them sold because this is how it should be... They're by far the rarest shaders in the game and something's gotta be hard to earn! Plus so many people complain we all look the same, this is a way to ensure we don't.

Editado por Ronin Tanuki: 1/5/2015 8:29:12 PMYou can already purchase their weapons, armor and class items. Honestly, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to purchase their shaders. At least, there should be guaranteed shader drops at certain level/rank milestones. For example, when you reach rank three, rank six, etc. *Edit* Let's also take it a step further. Being able to purchase shaders would also be lore friendly. At least, in the same way that being able to purchase weapons and armor is lore friendly. The factions want you to wear their armor, use their weapons, and wear their colors. In Destiny, the various factions are obviously vying for control and actively try to recruit guardians to their particular causes. Having guardians walk around with these items equipped is the best type of propaganda/advertising available to them.
-
1 RespuestaUsing commendations to purchase them would make sense.
-
New Monarchy Rank 20, still no freaken shader
-
3 RespuestasGood shaders seem to be hard to come by, more so then exotics in my opinion.
-
Justice bump
-
4 RespuestasThey were for sale in the beta. Obv required lv 20 though. I've reached the point where I only level up dead orbit on every character hoping for a hanged man or the nowhere
