Why do people still drink alcohol and do drugs in this day and age?
I can get drinking alcohol in the 20th century, we weren't nearly as collectively intelligent back then. But why do people these days, and kids especially, insist on wasting their lives by doing drugs and alcohol?? For Christ's sakes, people are actually pushing for marijuana to be legalized on a federal scale! (not even going to bring up that total failure of the legal system in Colorado and Washington) Our society is just getting more and more corrupt as these dangerous chemicals are getting accepted. I remember when you couldn't even get a job if you smoked marijuana.
If you do any kind of drug or drink booze regularly, you're an idiot. I get messing up every now and then, but it shouldn't be a lifestyle. And if you're addicted, please go to a rehab clinic and get help. People like you are only holding our country back.

Always talking about the dumbest crap and acting... just weird. My friend gave me a 10 minute speech about something and I was like wait... you're -blam!-ing high! Because we can't all be so judgemental. We can't all be satisfied providing commentary about our own righteousness while disparaging a life that we don't know. Because we're not all dumb enough to call marijuana a "chemical", some of us have to get stoned to be that stupid - it doesn't always come naturally. Chemicals? Let's have a look in your medicine cabinet and see how many Government approved (actual) chemicals you use to get through the day. How many daily links to cancerous growth do you need to swallow to be so uppity? Want to talk about how the feds are messing it all up? This country was founded on an ideal: We each deserve the right to live our lives as we see fit, so long as we don't force those beliefs upon another person. We have strayed from that as a society, with the need to police and pamper the public against their will and without provocation. You can't ring that freedom bell without appreciation for all of its tones.

15 RespuestasNews flash kid, you cannot develop a physical addiction to marijuana. It is a common misconception that was spread to prevent people from using it. The reason why people are pushing for its legalization, is because people are finally realizing it is less harmful than alcohol and cigarettes(and ironically you can get addicted to both of these legal drugs and die from them). I used to say I'd never drink alcohol, and my dad always used to say just wait until you enter university and you'll see. Well he was right. Though I don't drink regularly, I do drink now, but I personally prefer to smoke(not cigarettes) instead. I like how I feel when high over being drunk, I have more control over my actions and I don't do stupid things. That said, you don't have to drink or smoke, but saying anyone who does is an idiot makes you look like a child and an idiot yourself. Human beings are creatures who cherish the experiences they encounter, and alcohol, cigarettes, weed all alter how people experience reality, so they will use them. Even things like sports racing dancing all release endorphins and adrenaline and we like it and some people crave it. Btw did you know caffeine is actually the most addictive drug in existence? Yeah, coffee is a drug. People actually go through withdrawal when they stop drinking coffee.

People will always do drugs, regardless what day and age it is. I have a fantastic life and I smoke pot and drink alcohol. I still donate to my community and help people. Just because I might shave off a few years of my life to have more fun now doesn't make it a bad choice, simply makes it mine. My question is, why are people still judging in this time and age?

33 RespuestasAlcohol i understand, but marijuana? Really? It has more benefits than drawbacks. Its never killed anyone, it does not cause deadly car accidents, and you can't overdose on it. I barely ever drink, i smoke daily, i work 60 hours a week and pay all my bills on time. Smoking a little weed is my escape from the daily grind. Just because you don't enjoy it doesn't mean its bad. I hate alcohol, but I'm not pushing for prohibition. If its not affecting you directly, why complain?

Prohibition is a massive waste and failure that only makes things worse and increases dangers to everyone. Washington and Colorado of prime examples, they've benefited massive by restoring that freedom. Infringing upon people is the real crime, not simply doing, possessing or selling drugs. You should be judged by the actions and quality of your work, not what you do in your personal time. You're the only one idiotic here for making such absurd claims and tossing around baseless insults. Also, cannabis is not physically addictive like alcohol is, and you have the same chance of quitting drugs on your own just the same as with rehab. It's up to the individual.

I agree that using drugs like alcohol and marijuana is extremely stupid. That being said I support legalization. Anything that causes permanent or temporary damage is bad imo. Alcohol pills Crack heroine are all bad. Pot however causes no negative side effects, and saying Washington is doing worse than any other state is stupid at best. They won the superbowl, have more tax money to spend, and business is booming over there. They tried, and proved that pot works in society more than drinking or anything else. That's why it's legal in most places, and cops usually don't care if they see you with it. My son would be legally allowed to smoke pot in Nevada, just so long as I said he could. (He would have to be registered, which is easier than rolling a joint) Fact. You are clearly a stupid high schooler who doesn't fit in because they don't do that shit.
