• Most definitely yes, it's should be considered a reward for all the beta testers out there for keeping up to date on Destiny development and going ahead and getting the pre order beta bonus ( hmmmm....). Let's face it the alpha and beta testers need some love bungie

  • No. It's a beta. The point is to test the gabe for bugs, not to get a head start on the game.

    • It shouldn't. The main argument is that the beta was not to get a head start but to test the game. Bungie is working on a lot of aspects of the game and it would be to much to handle to transfer all of the data over. Read what they said about the player count. It was larger than any of their fully released games ever made. This is going to be a big game and they want to make it fair. Trust me. Any loot you found is going to be useless within one day when you level up and find new gear. Don't worry, the game is still going to be amazing.

      • Beta should transfer because bungie wants us to "have a relationship with our characters" Even if our gear transferred but not the level, I would love it. After all, I got a rare pulse rifle and an awesome ship.

Here's why I think it shouldn't: Try playing an NES game, full upgrades, one life. You're on the boss level, a sliver of his health is left and you die. You now have to start all over again. This is what the beta is. You get to start all over again, knowing what to do. So now that you know what to do, you can spend years longer on the game, trying to find the exact same weapons that you had in the beta. Wanna use a level 8 weapon while you're level 15? That's fine with me. You can. It's just more difficult to kill a level 15 enemy with a level 8 weapon than with a level 15 weapon. I understand the iron banner apparel, it was all awesome, but isn't that in the full game? So once the full game comes out, you can now spend hours upon hours building your reputation so you can receive the iron banner stuff once again? Took you a week to build reputation for the vanguard? No worries, you can buy the game and play until the second Destiny comes out. Oh wait, you bought the game, you can play Destiny until you don't want to anymore. Let's compare time. How long did it take you in the beta? Now how long will it take you in the full game? How long did the beta go for? How long does the full game go for? Beta: two weeks (a few days for xbox/everybody). Full game: until you don't want to play it anymore (that goes for everyone that buys the game, not just an exclusive console like the PS4). So how long did it take you in the beta as a PS4 player to receive everything you have on the PS4 beta? The same amount of time as PS4 beta players. Xbox players, how long did it take you to earn your loot? The same amount of time xbox beta players had. Now how long will every single person have to get more loot than they had in the beta once full game releases? They have from the time they buy it until the time they don't want to play it anymore. You want your loot carried over? Play the full game until you get the same exact loot you got within the beta. The time you spent getting that loot was wasted after a beta wipe? Well, what is a beta? A beta is a test. The result of a beta test that over 4 million people played will be a restart of the full Destiny game. We complain that we had the same loot and looked just like everyone else, correct? Well, in the full game, that won't happen. You will get different loot. Some may act the same. Some may look the same. Do I care if beta wipes or not? No. Why am I posting this comment? Because people don't listen, so they like to ask the same question over and over again even though they have heard other people ask/answer. Am I going to keep the beta carry over items? No, I like starting clean. Does that mean I deserve to force Destiny into having a beta wipe? No, Bungie can do whatever they want with the beta wipe. Why do I care so much? Because you care so much. So why do you care so much? It's a game. What happens if your save games get corrupted? You have to start over from either the beginning, or the last save game that wasn't corrupted. Q: Should Bungie do a beta wipe? A: It's a game Q: Can I keep my loot from the beta? A: It's a game
Sorry for the rant, I'm not normally like this. I'm not always hotheaded. Just please stop making new forums for the same exact questions. You get on the same forum topics and get the same answers. Bungie will answer you when the time comes for the answer.
Edit: Sorry OP if I offended you at all. Wasn't meant to be taken that way. You weren't whining or complaining, I just thought I would voice my opinion to those who were.

Why would you want to use a character that was created with very limited customisation options. Seriously once the full game is released you are all going to want to start from scratch. Let it go!

          • I, and many others, exploited the chest spawn system in the beta to gain vast amounts of glimmer which was then used to obtain legendary gear through the Cryptarch. That's reason enough to not allow progress to be carried over.

            • There is an advantage to having played the beta. It is very simply this. By participating in the Beta, you have gained an early insight into the game itself, the combat and leveling systems and you have had a chance to figure out 'basically' where things are in the early stages of the game. What good is this to you? It means that when you get the full game and plug it in, you will be able to fast track your early levels. You'll know where to go, how to get there and what to do once you get there. Anyone who will be just starting will find themselves exploring unfamiliar environments and learning how to survive with just what they can find. Not that you'll have anything more, but you'll know better how to take advantage of it. Now, what does a random pile of gear and leveling matter when you have that? Stop whinning and be happy that you got to experience the Beta. That should be advantage enough for you.

              • I want it to carry over IF; if they did accelerate leveling for the beta so we could get through levels faster then I DON'T think our progress should carry over BUT I would like to keep some of my gear. if they didn't accelerate leveling than I see no point in making us start over, we did the work to get where we are and re-playing the missions is pointless.

              • Simple...and I'll try not to be too crass about this. This beta was a business deal between Bungie and its customers. Bungie needed to both perform quality-control tests, and market Destiny. Both things it would normally have to pay for. Instead it offered a deal to its customers---in exchange for pre-ordering---those customers would get several days-to-a-week of exclusive pre-release access. Players would get to enjoy the game. Bungie would stress test their servors and get strong word-of-mouth marketing. But Bungie---without warning---altered the arrangement. Seeing an opportunity to magnify the stress testing, and score another marketing victory, they opened the beta to the public. Offering them the same commemorative token they promised to those who pre-ordered. Bungie acted in their best interests....now I'm acting in mine. I want the fruits of the many hours of my stress-testing services that I gave them under an agreement that they did not fully honor, to carry over to the full game. It will be a nice token for what I gave them...and will not do any damage to the game play evironment on release day.

              •
Vote so that Bungie can see what the players want! Don't forget to comment why!
Though I love the characters I built I went into the beta knowing that the character would not stay. This gave me an idea of what I would like to do. I don't think the character should be brought over as it would cause frustration in the crucible for those who did not have a chance to get the gear they wanted. It would be nice to have something just for being part of the beta, like extra glimmer or an option for a special ship. What I think would be the best would be some glimmer and an xp boost to help us quickly reach that level 8 mark

                • I voted no to carry overs because how you start the game can change from the beta and there is more than likely going to be more than two armor sets at low levels.

                  • If people really think there's an advantage gained from having played the beta, then everyone's progress should be deleted on a monthly basis so that it's fair for people who only bought the game that month. Seriously, think about what you're saying. There will always be people with a higher level than you but it makes NO difference to your game.

                      • There is no reason beta characters and progress can't or shouldn't continue with the full release. There's no advantage over anyone who didn't play it. That would be like saying people who buy the game at launch have an advantage over anyone who bought it a year later. Plus, you're unlikely to do all the same random exploration you did first time round, so won't find all the same hidden ghosts you stumbled across.

I imagine there'll be many gameplay and stat balancing tweaks between now and September. With that in mind, I'd rather start from scratch to level a new character in line with any adjustments. Saying that, if they did carry everything over, it wouldn't matter to me...I'd just start a new character anyway..

                      • Yes. It should carry over because we who played the beta made a bond with our characters. Yea I could start over but what me and my beta character had cannot be replaced. I don't want to loose what I have achieved because others think it's bad we got a head start. Nobody stopped them from pre ordering. All they're fault. I say let progress carry over. Plus not to mention the cards I collected.
