UPDATE: BF4 BETA IS NOW LIVE FOR EVERYONE.
You can download it from the XBL marketplace and presumably PSN Store or Origin.
UPDATE:2
The Updatening.
I'm also going to update my impressions of it because I've had longer to play it.
I finally got to play some of it and it's very good. It looks and feels like a merger between BF3 and BC2, Vehicles certainly need some work though... I drove a tank towards the fallen skyscraper and got stuck in the sand.
Textures and rendering distances are borked but that's understandable because it is a Beta.
Giraffe people and Ostriches on Crack have been sighted. No moles yet though.
Pickup weapons are great, most can be reloaded by the ammo box so don't just discard the USAS/M82/MGL when you are running low.
Stabbing is good but counterknifing is a bitch when there is lag.
A major problem with the 360 beta is reloading is absolutely bollocks. You discard whole magazines when you reload, which may be intended to be a final feature or it's a serious issue. Shotguns are ammoless as a result so you pretty much have to roll support if you want to use them.
UPDATE: Reloading should not be borked on PC Beta and in the full release game on all platforms. It should be like BF3's reloading system.
I've added the emblem I made on the Battlelog site, you get to use this emblem in game.
It's very enjoyable and I can't wait for the full game, however the 360's limits are pretty visible texture wise and so the PS4 can't come soon enough.

When I read the thing about the magazine problem I almost flipped
-
yea the graphics in 360 are not complete. you will download graphic contant for the game. just like you had to do in bf3
-
2 RespuestasDestructible environments suck. The building falling is just a scripted piece of crap. I was expecting it to be dynamic destruction. Really miss Bad Company 2 right now.
-
I enjoyed it, even though it was very similar to Battlefield 3. Of course it has flaws, every beta does.
-
1 RespuestaDon't expect the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions to look any better.
-
2 RespuestasIt's..... it's very BF3. I didn't get a sense that anything was drastically different. The elevator sequence on the Shanghai map is interesting. Map layout seems okay so far, but I've only played a couple of matches. Pretty easy to spawn camp with vehicles, but meh that's Battlefield for ya. Reloading seems punishingly slow. Obviously running this on the 360, so the graphics and texture pop ins are pretty bad but I'm hoping this gets changed in the final release. It's gonna look great on next gen and PC though. Overall, very BF3ish. That's not a bad thing either, I guess I was just expecting things to be a bit more different this time around.

3 RespuestasToo many bloody snipers...
-
3 RespuestasCan someone tell me the size of the download?
-
2 RespuestasUnplayable on PC. I can run BF3 on high so that's not the issue.
-
2 RespuestasShouldn't this go to Dice so they can hear your ideas to help make the game better? This is my first BF game and I am the noob from battlefield friends, clueless. But I'll leave the critiques to the true fans that know the game.
-
1 RespuestaIs fun but way to many invis people running around
-
3 Respuestas(Playing it on PC.) It's pretty fun, although very, very, very, very similar to BF3.
-
I'll pass.

After playing a few hours on PC I'm pretty underwhelmed. The UI for the whole game is pretty terrible. They're using a minimal color pallet of just blacks, whites and grays with occasional highlights of green, blue and red. And the menus change their layout all the time so it's difficult to navigate. Seems like a minor gripe, but it makes the information overload all the more difficult to manage. The fact that you can blow up the building in the middle is pretty cool, but I think the map would be much better if you could destroy ALL the buildings in the map like that. The destructible environments aren't nearly as dynamic or interesting in this game as they were in, say, Bad Company 2. And I run in to way too many indestructible walls and surfaces. Pretty much the only thing that breaks are flimsy pieces of furniture, glass, a FEW walls on some buildings, and context-sensitive points on the map like the pillar under the road or the center skyscraper. The graphics are also pretty underwhelming. It's clear the Frostbite 3 engine is capable of a lot, but far too often they waste all that potential by designing bland things like dark, empty hallways or dust clouds. The rubble of the destroyed skyscraper is particularly graphically ugly. Yes, I know everything would be covered in crumpled dust and dirt if a building that size collapsed, but the result is a very ugly white mass in the middle of the map with the same repetitive textures and some EXTREMELY static geometry. Overall, Battlefield 4 feels like a lot of wasted potential. Dice needs to add dinosaurs, a sci-fi theme, or more destructible environments to their Battlefield games if they want them to stand out. Otherwise, this just has "generic modern military shooter" written all over it. No heart or soul, just a lot of polish and perceived realism.

Played it for two hours last night. It made me realize that I've been too hard on Planetside 2.
-
2 RespuestasWaiting for the public beta. I tried it on Xbox, but it really just sucks on current-gen consoles. Once the public beta opens, I'll be playing it on PC.
-
4 RespuestasSoft kill points are defo needed on every roof that doesn't have an elevator to it. I'm tired of half of the players (On both teams) sitting on the various rooftops with snipers not doing anything the whole round. Most of them are awful and miss 90% of their shots anyway. I'm guessing there will be another large texture install in the final version of the game but that's to be expected really.

1 RespuestaMap is a little gray
-
1 RespuestaMed packs smash windows. It's as if you're tossing a brick or something. Either that or the windows are made of paper. That really confused me.

2 RespuestasWhat I say next may ruin your experience for BF4 if you over analyze so proceed with Caution.
The Net Code is Shit - again! Now, I am a Battlefield fanboy, but this is unacceptable if coding is still bad in the final game. Play the beta for just a single match, you will notice inconsistent kill times. Put a half of a clip into someone's chest, they'll live with 40% or more health, after they kill you with two bullets. Not only are their inconsistent kill times, but also animation errors. Someone is looking at the ground below your feet, boom, you die from headshots. It's just many things like this that occur so often, it makes the Beta almost unplayable. Now I know this is just a beta, but coding doesn't really improve from Beta to final games. Things like being shot through the corners of walls have been brought back from BF3 apparently. I've been playing this beta since it was released to premium players and I have payed extreme attention to this. Other than that, I like just about everything in the Beta. I can't wait to see the full graphical capabilities with the launch game's graphics pack.
2 RespuestasYou toss whole magazines? Finally. No more wasteful reloads after a couple pussy potshots.
-
I have never played a BF game and haven't played a modern shooter since MW2. I'm looking forward to trying this game out.
-
1 Respuesta
You discard whole magazines when you reload
That explains why I run out of ammo so fast.
-
I hate the skyscrapers, because people camp on the rooftops.
-
It's meh, just like all generic FPS'
-
1 RespuestaFun but people need to stop taking out the skyscraper as soon as the game starts
