Games like GTA V will they lose popularity and sales because of their decision to not go to next gen? Will you guys still be playing these current gen games up to a year after the release?

If anything, the games will harm the console sales. Why pay game price + console price when you can just play all the big autumn releases on your current console?
-
2 RespuestasThey will fall under the radar. We are excited for them now, but when time comes, people will forget, leaving few fans. Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars is testament to that.

Editado por halo: 5/2/2013 3:34:08 PMThey will probably release on the next gen just like how games in the previous gen from the current gen came out on the current gen. Why do you care if they will lose popularity anyway, just play the damn game and stop worrying if other people are playing it.
-
Oh yeah, because that's totally happened with San Andreas on the Xbox in 2005. Not everyone can afford or wants a next gen machine at launch, so they'll happily stick with the current generation.
Games like GTA V will they lose popularity and sales because of their decision to not go to next gen?
You're an idiot if you truly believe that.
-
I'm not getting anything on the current gens.. except PC.. Elder Scrolls Online maybe
-
I'm sure many current gen players will stay current gen. If I had to put a percentage I'd say 40% of the population who owns a 360 or PS3 has no means of generating enough money to buy a new gen console, because their parents bought them the console. As well as people like myself who said -blam!- the new generation and built a PC. As well as people who just want to wait to see what these new consoles can really do. I believe after this last generation, where for the first few years we didn't have to worry about the economy, this generation will be a lot more cautious at throwing $500 dollars towards a new console.
-
I bet it takes a year or 2 for the old gen gamers to make the switch. Bills suck!!!
Games like GTA V will they lose popularity and sales because of their decision to not go to next gen? Will you guys still be playing these current gen games up to a year after the release?
Implying EVERYBODY is going to buy the new consoles the day the come out? Don't expect the new console generation to completely kill the current generation within a few weeks or even a few months. Every time a new console has come out, the previous one has continued to remain a viable platform for quite a while. A game company is asking a lot of consumers to throw down a few hundred dollars for a game console that won't have very many games available for it... especially when they can spend significantly less on the current generation console and pick up a wider selection of games at a fraction of their original cost. Eventually people will shift over to the newer generation, but a full shift will take a few years to complete. So developing GTA 5 for the current generation makes perfect sense.
-
Within a few months, those games will most likely be ported.
-
Not everyone is going to switch over overnight, nor will everyone switch over for a decent period of time. Consoles are extremely overpriced at launch, and the current services offered by the 360 really aren't that bad.
-
Screw next gen.
-
There's probably 140+ million 360/PS3 owners out there. They don't magically disappear, and some people will not switch over right away due to price and the fact that they are complacent with current offerings.
-
Teh puma will more than likely stay on PC so he doesn't have to deal with these issues.
-
They'll be fine. Not a very big portion of the gaming community is going to switch over. For one, consoles are way overpriced at launch. I'll wait for a couple hundred dollar reduction. For two, even with the reduction people just don't have the money. So I expect for the first year or two, most people will stick to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Which means that yes, I will be playing current-generation games.
-
They will be just fine.
-
Yes, getting a next-gen console at launch is idiotic.
