It didn't send anyone to die as payment for slights against it, it never promised anyone any proscribed number of virgins in payment for martyrdom, nor did it demand that its practitioners cut the hearts out of the living to sate its hunger, its never demanded any amount of money be donated in its name, nor that scientists be forced to make a journey once in their lives to any lab. No, science is..well...science. Its the pursuit of knowledge for the betterment of our species. Sometimes they get it wrong, and sometimes they get it right. But 2+2=4 no matter where you were born, and the star light used to observe the heavens is available for all to see. The point of there being great mysteries in life is that we must solve them. Its cheating to ascribe anything we can't explain to some deity that does the strangest stuff on a whim. If you have to say that we "look through the window darkly" then it means that you gave up. Humankind has the potential to be infinite. We can solve and discover anything we set our minds to. We don't need to be given a special place in the universe, we have the ability to take it for ourselves. Science is a worthy thing to further. It doesn't care if I believe in it, 2+2=4 in every case.
