I rarely ever meet other people who actually form their own opinions. Let alone their own thoughts. I come across more and more people whose opinions are just their parents'. I want this to stop. What can we do to create more free thinkers?
Kill them?
Torture?

Kill them? You call yourself a free thinker, yet you only see eradication as an option. We wait. Patience is a virtue. Eventually, the world will need us free thinkers. Then, we will create more.

You think you have all the answers, everything is so obvious, everyone else has no clue what they are talking about, and your parents are stupid because they aren't 'in touch' with the modern way of doing things. Until you get out on your own for an extended period of time, have to do everything yourself, and you get some years under your belt - only then will you realize that your parents weren't so dumb after all. Not all, I realize that some people really do have parents that are not the brightest. But more often than not, you will come to see that what your parents told you comes to play out as wisdom later on in life. You will be telling your kids the same things, and they will be looking cross eyed at you like you are doing to yours. Go ahead and believe what you want, I won't change any minds here. Everyone has the ability to free think. Some are just not as creative as others. Some are just not as garish to think that their ideas are always right, and they are smart enough to keep things to themselves.

its because people are too worried about being popular so they follow popular trends even though they are bad. Then they get too worried about speaking out against it because they dont want to be on the outside

lol OP. I guess the trolls are still infesting the flood these days.

1 RespuestaSince when did people NOT believe what what their parents do?

Editado por God: 4/4/2013 5:28:04 PMBunk. There are probably more free thinkers now than any previous point if you know your history.
-
What defines free thinking? Technically none of us have free will, we are merely the sum of our genes and experiences and do what we are programmed to based on these things.
-
A dying race? People have been doing/believing what they've been told forever. It's not anything unusual.
-
Torture sounds like the best option at hand. totally. :P

Trust Rowdy Roddy Piper and put on the glasses.

Editado por Kamots: 4/4/2013 3:18:55 PMEverybody thinks they are a free thinker, regardless of whether or not they actually are. Here's something: Most people who say they are, aren't. They are living in a delusional frame of mind. I get the feeling that you are one of those people.
-
No, there are more freethinkers now a days, except in politics, media, and religion.
-
Im telling you, its the fluoride.
-
I'm free. And I can think... Does that count?
-
OP probably got this idea from his parents.

-
So being a "Free Thinker" is just disagreeing with your parents? - Der
-
Haha, no. Free thinking is on the rise.

Editado por o0MrCheesy0o: 4/4/2013 3:00:12 PMHow do you know you rarely meet people who don't form their own opinions? If a child shares the opinion of his mother and father is that proof that he doesn't think, or that he does think? If you want every child to think like you than you're endorsing the behavior you're criticizing.

You must not be thinking.

My Free thinking switch gets turned on and off a lot. I've noticed that when I free think I am more depressed, angered, frustrated with the world.. And then when I'm just going with the flow, I'm more peaceful.

So when you walk down the street, you know what the people you walk past are thinking? They aren't dying, you're just not encountering them
