Flood, I'm depressed (meaning of existence thread)
What's the point of life anyway? Why should I continue with my college education and then work my ass off at some meaningless job for the next forty something years if I 'm just going to die in the end eventually?

have fun with friends, be social (you have to learn to be social). yes you will die but before it happens, you need to have as much fun as you can. do exciting new stuff and meet new people.

Don't worry about it, my solution is to save as much money as possible by spending as little as possible helping me to retire as early as possible so i can live the rest of my days doing fun stuff.

The point of going to college is to get a job that isn't meaningless to you. Career != job.

Drop the education if you feel that will make you happy ... you can always resume it later, although be prepared for it to appear a lot harder. Either way you will still end up working your ass off ... unless you plan not eating nor playing that xbox game. Work = money = a common form of exchange for goods and the material "things" you desire. If you feel you can live a happier life without these things ... then work enough to pay for food & water. Feel you can hunt and product your own food & water ... then your work will be that objective alone. The choice is yours. The focus on things (like work and college) as being inhibitors ... rather than enablers ... is your call.

Trust me man there are a lot of people who are depressed. Obviously this doesn't make your situation any better or worse, but realize regardless of what you think, people care for you. I am morbidly depressed, and sometimes I ponder the notion that absolutely no one cares about me. I am very zealous towards this idea even though I know it's not true. The mind works in weird ways. As for the meaning of life, I believe there isn't one, but you can still make it your duty to try and be as happy as possible. Pick up a hobby, do something that is fun or increases your intelligence or pride.

When you have gone a whole week on 2 hours a night of sleep, 3 meals a day on shitty hospital food and no sunlight, then you can talk to me about depression.

Is the friendship with your closet friend crumbling away, and you know he's all you really have for a true friend? Does your depression cause you physical pain daily? You don't know depression.
