How do creationists explain dinosaur bones, and other fossils? Or how do those who believe humans walked alongside them explain their absence from the scripture?
I'm not here to bash anyone based on their belief, but I just want to know how those with that view would go about explaining things that were found in the Earth that are older than any of us.

I don't know that that the bible is 100% correct but I do believe God created them and us, and I believe in all the miracles that happen.

3 RespuestasEditado por CorporateKiller: 2/16/2013 3:29:20 AMActually, there are some seemingly credible scientists who suggest that it might not have been a meteor that offed all the giant lizards. Creationists see creation as scientists see science - just because evidence doesn't fit their paradigm doesn't mean they can abandon it. Creationists are allowed to reject things as evidence for the same reason scientists can - because it doesn't fit what they already know. Scientists might reject miracles as miracles and assume that they are caused by an unknown factor just as Creationists reject darwinism as the explanation for evolution. In the end, science itself depends on faith - that is beliefs in things which can't be proven. The reason for this is that nothing is provable to everybody. If proving it to most people makes it right, however, then creationists were right before but aren't now. They reject it because it makes the most sense to them. As long as they don't insist on lying to my kids about it, I don't care what they believe.

2 RespuestasAny Creationist saying definitely one way or the other is talking out their ass. We don't know if Moses was being literal or figurative with the seven days bit. It could refer to seven great periods of time, the final one in which he sat back and observed all he made thrive and flourish. The Bible says that if Adam and Eve ate the fruit they would know death, what if God had made them immortal keepers of the Garden of Eden? What if they were perfect beings for millions of years? What if God made other humans outside the Garden? Certainly he made a lot more humans besides Adam and Eve, because they only had a handful of kids by the time they died and surely those few kids could not have populated numerous towns worth of people mentioned shortly after the Fall of Man. The Bible says the oldest living person after the Fall was nearly 1000 years old. The average lifespan on people in that time according to the Bible is several centuries. If that's having a short life and knowing death, how long were Adam and Eve around for? What people don't take into account when they add up the dates to 6000 years is that those dates begin when Cain and Abel are born. We've no idea how much time passed between Adam and Eve's creation, the Fall of Man and then Cain and Abel's births. It could have been centuries, if not millennium between those events. I'm a devout Christian but I don't pretend to know everything about the Bible. A significant amount is literal and a significant amount is figurative. I don't want to really say it's all up for interpretation since I believe it's all true, but there's certainly that challenge of discerning whether or not it's being figurative or literal. And another thing, the Bible says science is good. God doesn't want us to be simpletons just mindlessly droning about. Questioning is good, learning and understanding is good. It really irks me when Christians talk about science and scientists negatively.

2 Respuestas
after reading articles about the meteorite in Russia, which usually site the one that wiped out the Dinosaurs. That theory is all but 100% confirmed at this point.
Then birds do not descend from Dino's? They can't reproduce and slowly from generation to generation turn into birds, if they were all wiped out in a single event. And also, not every creationist believes the same thing. They are not all catholic. Some study the Bible and try to make better understanding of it, rather than just take someone else's word. Dino's could have just been another beast, or the seven days, could have been seven stages, and just one of those stages could have been billions of decades long.

1 RespuestaFrom what I can gather it is believed that after the great flood the air was much thinner then before the flood, so most of the bigger Dino's suffocated while the smaller ones were ether eaten or mated into some of the creatures we have today.

Editado por predtheshni: 2/16/2013 5:42:12 PMActually the dinosaurs weren't all wiped out by the meteor, but it was the last straw for them. The planet was experiencing enormous amounts of volcanic activity for 2-3 million years before the impact, it was radically changing the climate and the larger dinosaurs couldn't cope with the change. Then the meteor hit and the climate took another hit from the dust cloud sent up from it. It is likely that smaller dinosaurs survived the massive shift in the climate and evolved into modern day birds. It is becoming very common to view dinosaurs with feathers these days (unfortunately, makes the giant lizard monsters that everyone loved look kinda silly ;_;) Kinda off topic, sorry :P.

Some consider references to 'dragons' to be descriptive of dinosaurs that existed in ancient history, but given the fossil record that refutes such sentiments, it seems unlikely. The only reference to a dragon is in Revelations, and there's some trippy shit going on in there, and as I've stated before, it relies heavily on simplification and metaphor to describe indescribable events. Beyond that, the book of Job mentions behemoths and a leviathan, but for all we know it's describing creatures that never made the final cut, so to say. Overall, it's not a compelling reason to believe dinosaurs existed with humans. It really depends on what version of creationism you're asking about.

I don't get it, but the Earth is more than 6,000 years old. That doesn't disprove God though.

I've heard a couple explanations. Temptations by Satan to discredit God's word, tests of humanity's faith, they didn't make it on the Ark, all ridiculous nonsense, don't waste your time being concerned with the ignorance of Biblical Literalism. Whenever I'm sad, I just go onto wikipedia and read the page on "Creation Science." No, I'm serious, I actually read it just to get a laugh and cheer me up.

I'm thinking that their most common excuse is that it's a test of their faith.
