So, I'm not a PVP player, but it has definitely been a problem on the forums. The problem now, though is how useless I can see it being besides weaken, which, in PVP is basically suicide to use since TTK is so low anyway, so I have one of 3 things they can do to balance out the changes:
A: Reverse the duration nerf to traps in general. Reversing this nerf would return the smoke bomb's purpose of being a "trap".
B: Make the smoke bomb detonation pull players out of movements such as sprint, but not if they're running through the cloud afterwards. A brief period of weakness to punish those foolish enough to walk through it.
C: Reduce smoke bomb cooldown. I can project the smoke bomb being phased out of really any usefulness besides weaken, making a new melee ability for Nightstalkers even more desirable than before. The smoke bomb isn't even that powerful. Last I remember from the private matches I do for the easy pinnacle grind for the Pathfinders, it does way less damage than even a slug from an uncharged bare fist.
Needless to say, I don't think they're done tweaking this ability, yet. It's gonna be WAY too easy to escape from it, and not worth using, which negates the entire point of the Nightstalker in the first place, but it seems to become too powerful without this nerf.
Of course, as I said, I'm not a PVP player, I just like seeing what's going on in the forum, but it seems like something to keep an eye on. I'll definitely be testing it in private matches this week when I do the Pinnacle grind. If any PVP player has any experience with being on both sides of the attack, please feel free to comment your opinion on the changes.
I know there will be some whiner babies going "it wasn't nerfed enough" or "they needed to drive it into the ground" "blah blah blah", entertain me all you want, we both know there's alot of bias, and only because you don't or can't utilize it yourself. That's like how they need to nerf Graviton Lance in PVE. Why is everyone saying it's fine? Because it's easily the most used thing in the game. I don't care what DestinyTracker says, it's easily over 50% usage with how often I see it.
Ranting over.

5 RespuestasDo keep in mind that hunters originally had 2 smoke grenade variations, due to the loss of the other variation and to compensate for that loss hunters got this all in one smoke variation due to that intended reason. Bungie might as well bring back poison smokes and debilitating smokes instead of nerfing the intention of the compensation.
