So a few avid glaive users that play with a variety of glaives a lot (not just glaives with impulse amplifier, as well as Roller and MnK) have been using glaives for the past 2 weeks and they held off on making a verdict. We didn't want to just reject the changes because it forced us to relearn the weapon. Here is the feedback:
Positives:
Buffs to Handling, Magazine size and Projectile Velocity are very welcome. Interestingly Vexcalibur feels very good to use now.
Negatives:
On every other glaive apart from Vexcalibur, projectile tracking still feels out of place and has brought on new issues in consistency.
The recent changes to the projectile and cone/aim assist doesn’t feel good to use in PvP especially within 15-20 meters of yourself on both inputs. This projectile change has been causing issues with projectile consistency which makes Glaives frustrating BUT everything else on glaives feels GREAT. There are instances where shots seem to miss or fail to register properly, despite the projectile appearing to hit on target.
From our observation, the projectile seems to be tracking to where the target was, and in some instances, it misses, due to movement directions, speed, and network delay.
While it might seem that the projectile tracking seems more forgiving when aiming, the projectile's tendency to veer slightly off course creates a disconnect between the intended trajectory of the projectile and where it actually goes (Examples linked to a YT Video).
Exotic Class Glaives: Please keep them unlocked it’s a very interesting dynamic on what certain classes can do with a different classes glaive.

5 RespuestasIf I controlled everything at Bungie the first thing I would do is disable glaives, bows, fusions, and grenade launchers in pvp. Any change that makes them worse and less usable in pvp is always welcome in my book. Nerf them 30 times a row, nerf them until literally not one single person uses them in pvp. Nerf them so bad that if Destiny 3 ever comes out they’ll be trash in that game too.

Glaives are so based so it hurts my soul seeing them so inconsistent. Although I don’t play pvp so I don’t have to worry about it much at least

I think in PvP the melee of glaives is just way too damn annoying. Also hard to counter. Unless you are 20 meters away with a rapid fire weapon, you can't do -blam!- about them. Especially on PC it is INSANE how fast Glaive users can close distances. Really makes me wish they would give Glaives a movement penalty so players are forced to use them more strategically.

Sadly this is true… The changes have made it noticeably (VERY noticeable) harder to hit shots in the close to medium range. I will say the changes made long range shots significantly easier to land. However, the large majority of the time glaives are used in the close to medium range, not the long range. Sacrificing consistency (some which is out of the users control) in the optimal range for consistency in a situation range is not a good trade off. A potential solution would be to have tracking only activate when a target is within your reticle but past a certain range. Of course, I’m sure there are other factors playing into the current inconsistencies, but I am not experienced enough to reasonable suggest any solutions.

As a glaive users - i agree with your assessment.

2 RespuestasI met a Bow/Glaive Hunter in Trials last weekend who was very competent on his combo. Destroyed our team single-handedly. When Glaives were introduced with WQ I loved them and despite of new ones my all time favourite remains the Enigma which still is one of my go to Gambit weapons. Looks like I need to give it another try in PvP.

1 RespuestaYou've said everything I thought about glaives changes in PvP. Awkard to use in mid-range but overall they made them feel less rigid. Now we only need a good PvE buff that doesn't revolve around melee and they would be fine.

1 RespuestaGlaives felt good to use before the rework and they were consistent. the easiest solution is to revert the changes to the projectile and just keep the buff to velocity because the projectile just does not feel good to use in close to mid-range.

Good on you for withholding judgement until you actually put in the time to try out the changes, then coming back with a detailed and constructive list of critiques. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)
