Destiny 2: The Final Straw

That's it, I'm done. Greed did this, not just Pete and his buddies. It wasn't "woke" killing the game, it wasn't the deletion of old, barely played content being vaulted for a while. It wasn't even the paywalls and microtransactions and forced merch plugs infesting every inch of the game. It was the treatment of the developers who were crunching to make it all happen. 220 laid off in a single fell swoop, while the executive branches remain untouched, and backed by one of the largest and most unyieldingly greedy corporations in existence. I've been playing since House of Wolves, 2015, in D1, and since D2 made the move to Steam in 2019. 9 years, upwards of ten thousand hours total. Every exotic, every fashionable armor piece, every raid and dungeon. Every extra $100 per expansion and season pass. I paid it all, because the game was still fun for me, at least as a PvE player (most of the time). Then at the absolute height of gameplay and fun and well-crafted design in years... all that talent is amputated from the Corporate Hydra, leaving only the worst of the heads, so that a new greedy one may take the place of the artistic. The thing that made this game special, and worth playing more than the rest. 4,000 hours on D2. I loved this game. Good luck with Marathon!
