I simply cannot understand the reasoning behind the decisions lately. Can the mission be done by meta loadouts, staying in the back and plinking enemies? Yes. Is that fun? HELL NO! For fs sake - there is a LEGEND version for that! Why make normal so hard that we must use boring loadouts? Can they not understand that some people simply play for fun? Have they completely forgotten about the fun factor? What is going on with people at Bungie. They intend to ruin their own product.

Most of the complaints are coming from casual and new players. And people who are defending this difficulty level - try-hards only - which is not a majority of the players - also sadly enough, try-hards are often content creators with a lot of out-reach and influence and so Bungie thinks that this is community feedback - but in reality, content creators are try-hard because that's the only way to create good enough content that people really want to watch.

You think they play their own game and test things beforehand? We wouldn't have this kind of nonsense if they do
-
Battleground GMs should have sealed the case for anyone who thought otherwise

I solo’d legend or hard mode or whatever they called it back when it first dropped and did all the catalyst work. I ran it on normal with my son yesterday and it felt difficult. I just went with the “plink” strategy when I ran normal this morning, and it was a far from perfect run, but I was able to solo it with about 18 minutes left on the timer. You definitely can’t just tank all the damage like you can in other missions / event, clearing a side and using the little cover I could in the boss room was the only way I see completing it… at least solo. Polaris Lance worked wonders and can permanently-stun the boss if you keep landing precision hits. Don’t know if this helps. Good luck!

Im using polaris lance. I need to find a good primary to use for this. I tried using mountaintop and normally im alright with it but enemies are very far in this game and too many are missing target. I also dont have a good non exotic solar heavy to run all solar build. Tried hammerhead and it just doesnt burn through mobs like a solar lmg is and i dont have one of those. So kinda stuck on the end boss brig part.

Try Tlord instead.

I got it done solo. Just kept doing mission for hours. Used chaos reach, mountaintop, polaris lance, hammernead. Just didnt want to stray from using lance on bosses and long range.
-
I did it with hung jury, indented kindness and thunder lord. Far from meta. Finished with 25 minutes left. Made it to boss room in 10 or so minutes.

That's not what your game history says. It says you failed twice solo and then gave up and got help from two other players, one of whom carried you and the other.

Earth patrol for the first quest being last. Matter of fact the exact stuff I used is still on my hunter because I never changed my gear. Except hung jury and outbreak being switched.

Its is interesting to see the reaction to the mission. Having played all versions of this mission, it feels exactly the same as it always has and yet there is more people complaining now then previously. Perhaps the skill level of the entire community has dropped making this time round feel more difficult on the whole, then it has in the past. As you say, more players play for fun, and not a challenge at this point of the games history compared to previous. When Bungie then comes out with a challenge, it is met with significant pushback from those looking to just point, shoot and have fun.
-
I mean, there are already 2 versions of the mission. 1 should be easy, other hard. What's the point of having 2, if they are both hard? The Timer? No one likes fn timers on normal! No one! I wanna look around and explore, go afk for 10 mins if I need to, put the damned timer in legend, for those that ride the "challenge is back" train. Can the rest of us just enjoy the game, have fun? No, obviously.

You realize there are two vastly different routes through the mission right?

Just ran it for the 1st time in 8 years. It's weird that it's 1810 & whisper is 1600, same mission type, same event. It's weird they hid it from the seal as a 'secret triumph' yet revealed it in the trailers & reveal streams. They gave it the arms dealer & lake treatment & made it harder/slower by upping add numbers & putting things in like bullet sponge brigs. A lot of players are gonna have a culture shock going in thinking it's like whisper, the jump puzzles can be hard to work out & you can waste a lot of time if you get stuck/lost. Another mind-blowing change, if 1 guy gets to the boss room, it no longer pulls people forward, so you have 1 guy in the boss room facing a giant brig, 2 walkers, 200 shanks, no cover, & the other 2 could be stuck in different jump puzzle areas helpless, & it's timed. Did it for the seal, a seal I'll never use, for a gun i already had, that I never use, in a mission I'll never run again, neither will anyone else in 3 weeks. Great use of resources bungo, GG Typical destiny play loop tbh I'm fighting every part of my mind to not just cancel FS & buy cod instead

Perfectly explained
-
The boss room never pulled anyone forward.
-
Really? Like I said it's been 8 years, pretty sure I got pulled forward in there but maybe not
-
Yeah, I used to do runs and help people obtain OutBreak it never pulled anyone to the boss room!

I really am getting too old lol. Cheers
