Well that should be a thing already in place where bungie detects if the name is inappropriate and warns the player. If they get guardianed, they get their refund and try again. But yet again this is bungie we’re talking about, can’t expect too much from them :/

  • It's unrealistic to expect them to make a filter that catches every potentially offensive name someone makes; look at all the double-entendres' people use.

  • That’s why I said “it’s bungie, don’t expect too much from them”

  • I wasn't putting that on Bungie; it was a generalized statement. The only 2 solutions I can see is: 1. People stop acting like children and don't pick juvenile names, or 2. Bungie simply gives everyone the 'Guardian' treatment and then it won't be an issue at all. The first one seems as likely as Sasquatch inviting me to his cave for S'mores, and the second would probably cause people to stroke out. So, we have what we do, one change.

  • Even if people don’t do juvenile names. People sometimes just wanna switch names, they should have the option to switch names whenever they want 🤷

  • And they probably would, but obviously some people can't be trusted. If you don't believe that, just look at how often people post, "Why was my named changed? It wasn't that bad!" Knowing full well why they picked what they did in the first place only to feign ignorance about why they were 'Guardian'd' Don't blame Bungie, blame people who can't abide by the rules.

  • Of course, but we can’t just categorize everyone in the “stupid people who put their names as something gross or mean” category. Some people genuinely make mistakes in their names like wrong characters or who just wanna switch their gamer tags Everyone shouldn’t be punished for the group that makes the descions of making their names something dumb. My point is, it’s not going to hurt anyone if they get the option to change their name. If they get guardianed? Oh well, sucks for them, pick another name.

  • I agree, but then Bungie would have to essentially ostracize those who do stupid things. How well do you think that would go over? Add to it the fact that every time someone's potentially offensive name gets reported, an investigator (for lack of a better word) had to look into the report, verify the name is inappropriate and then change it. Now, for the sake of argument, those same individuals KEEP doing it, another report, another verification, etcetera. Meanwhile, those 'investigators' aren't reading reports of potential cheaters or other violators because they're too busy looking into something as pointless as a naughty tag. People already complain about "Cheaters never getting banned," what do you think would happen then? Let's not forget the most important part of the 'Name Game' debate, either. It's a tag; it doesn't affect a players' game in any way whatsoever. Why does it truly matter so much what it is? People have actually stated they would pay real money for that, yet everyone continues to rant about 'microtransactions' and Eververse; but they'll pay for that? How does that make sense?
