Why do you basically get nothing for playing trials?

I swear to god it feels like you get literally nothing for playing the mode with the exception of the -blam!- weekly challenge thing. The rewards should not be -blam!- locked behind going flawless or getting 7 wins in a -blam!- row. It makes the mode feel pointless to play, and the makes it seem the only way to actually get anything out of it is to bash your skull against the wall. I’m not asking for the mode to give me adepts, or mods or whatever. But they should respect your -blam!- time and give you at least more enhancement core, or prisms without having to go for 7 -blam!- wins. Because if your trying to go flawless and loss one time all your work was for nothing, and you get nothing for playing. You want to know why no one plays this mode besides the trials 1%, and streamers? It’s because there is literally no reason to play it besides going flawless which is stupid

  • I got a pile of engrams, weapon drops, the mida catalyst and the cloudstrike catalyst. Pretty good haul in my opinion.

  • Try and attempt to get better at the game, thats what trials is all about, but dw bungie will eventually water down this mode like they did comp lol soon it wont even be impressive to see what counts as going flawless.

  • There's more than enough participation rewards for Trials.

How you got platinum but cant go flawless is beyond me, wait I know why. Because rank means nothing. You can be the worst of the worst and grind comp ranks because you play people of similar skill. Welcome to a format where SBMM does not baby you(ToO). Its almost like bungie designed the comp rank system to make casuals feel good about them selves....O wait they said that in a TWAB.

    • So you want more rewards for those who keep on "win resetting" which enough players complain about as it is. So you don't think that getting big rewards for playing a HARD CORE pvp mode and winning as Trials has been since year one of D1 is against you.

    • So, you want participation rewards? I mean, I'm cool with that, but I would also like adept raid weapons and spoils by loading into the raid and just running in circles for 45 minutes. I don't really wanna have to coordinate with 5 other people, rebuild my entire armor / mods / weapons etc... Just give me the stupid Vex and Spoils please

    • That’s how I feel about dungeons. Over 300 encounters and not a single desired weapon roll to show for it. I feel dumb for paying for access to something that has been so fundamentally unrewarding.

If Bungie allowed an adept (*imo can be either a weapon or a mod, not both) reward at a players first rank reset You'd see a jump in the player base for trials. And a much healthier space for different player types. But architect forbid casuals get ONE adept each week compared to the ones who can farm multiple quickly and daily and get other rewards to show their milestone. Sweats ruined their own game mode. Not with exclusivity but with not respecting other players time. No one wants to play hours on end with nothing to show for it. Like a raid phase that gets nowhere on hour 4 It's the worst feeling.

Can we stop pretending that Adept loot is THAT good. It like 5% better than the regular version at most. Let the Top Tier players enjoy their pallet swapped weapons. Let them have this small thing that says they're the best or whatever. It's ok. It's honestly not a big deal to miss out on these adepts. If you ever get one, you'll know that they do not live up to the hype. Especially if the rolls on it are a mess. With that said. Playing trials should give players, both pro and noob, more basic trials loot. I agree with the OP that it should be more rewarding. Not giving everyone adepts, but maybe something like each win you get a trials weapon/armor and every 4 losses you get a Trails weapon/armor.

          • It's not designed to be rewarding for most players in general. As long as Bungie continues with that design choice Trials wont be worth playing.

It’s because there is literally no reason to play it besides going flawless which is stupid[/quote] Trials is a competitive MATCH. PERIOD. It has tailored rewards for going flawless which were originally the most powerful weapons in the game. D1 you could get 5 win and 7 win rewards. Armor and non adept weapons. But the absolute best needa to be competed for, otherwise go to your pve dreg shooting contest and hampsterwheel. Do you expect to be rewarded for playing solitaire or chess, or playing monopoly. Maybe a candy bar from your mom. You cannot, and should not, complain about the endgame that 5% play day in and day out. It's our playlist, it's for pvpers, if you don't like it, stay the -blam!- out. I don't play gambit, I never get the rewards because of it. I'm not in here crying about it like you are, which ultimately means your current forum post isa diaperstain because you just cant get to the lighthouse. Most of us average 45% chance to go, and I don't complain about it

              • I played every weekend January and received 8 Catalyst drops... Id say I did good. Bounties however are pointless once you hit BP Rank 100. And now that Lightfall Vendor gear will be all Engram Based, they need to add XP gains back to Bounties.

                • Hi, sorry its stupid long. I understand that's not favorable, but this is a complicated issue, I feel. Much like ogres and onions, there are layers... Personally, I think they just need to set the Lighthouse, not to going flawless, but for reaching the last notch on the card. Time is then rewarded equally, in that as long as you put in the necessary time to finish, everyone gets that chance. Its a solid middle ground that doesn't need anything else to change. I'm not great in Trials, I have some good matches here and there, but it still takes f*cking forever to fill that d*mn card. Completing that should be enough. Its called "Trials" and they're supposed to be hard, but not impossible. We're still working very hard to get this stuff, going through these trials, and I know I will literally never be able to go flawless along with many others as it is. YES, I can, and do, actively learn and practice, but so is everybody else playing, so what can we realistically expect of that outcome? Probably not much, if anything. Its not a valid answer to the question. What we can do is give the open opportunity (no restrictions) but time investment, that would let more people experience it. We all paid good earned money for it, afterall. The challenge in game is big enough, and I don't care who says "its easy" or anything to that, good for them, but its a videogame, so as long as we're playing and not throwing matches, we should be getting something out of it. Games are made for FUN, why people have this idea it has to be an elite catered service is just absolute nonsense. If its truly fun that's little to no concern. If ego is the only reason people play, then they're just in denial the game is actually trash to them, and that desperate for something to cling to because its so devoid of fun in the experience. Big developer fail. As it stands, as long as you get a kill or two, you'll still get points and no matter what, loss or win, you progress the levels, but because of people throwing (even if you're trying) say you're not able to get a kill, which happens from time to time, well there's no points then and you lose out. Thank you Destiny playerbase for being so toxic and childish it was necessary to implement ridiculous and extreme measures that only make it harder for people, just so it could be tolerated by a few more. I get it, but I also feel in games there's no reason to lock anything functional away for a special group of elite players. There is a certain point where a player's skill level is so far up there, they become irrelevant to anything implemented because they can never have a good enough challenge, so there's no reason to put alot of effort into creating for that. Want more reward and challenge? Try to go pro then. Get paid for it. Go against other pros. That's the best reward for the truly skilled. People up there should realize this. By adapting it for the highest tier players, it becomes impossible for that many more, which naturally eviscerates player interaction volume. Titles and cosmetics should be good enough reward, all the functional stuff should be able to be acquired in a reasonable amount of time, with reasonable effort for people. All of it is incredibly unreasonable, currently. Even with double gains this week, its still awful. Without that, I refuse to even try because its not worth it. If it takes longer because you're a lower 3v3 skill player, like me, extra time put in should be expected, and I'm ok with it when its realistic, but we shouldn't be barred from accessing anything because we aren't perfect, or don't live to Bungie's subjective standards. Videogames are literally all participation rewards. Why do we play? To get the stuff, so its a completely invalid argument, because if we didn't get stuff just for playing, nobody would play videogames in the first place. Just getting a point made ahead of potential interaction. Bottom line, Bungie needs to stop incentivizing perfection, because that is completely unreasonable for 99% of people and is destined to fail. Its a live service game that requires a large player base, so everything with the exception of some special cosmetic things should be reasonably attainable, and doable by the average player, at every level. Go ahead and make super hard to get cosmetics, people should get something out of it, they just don't need exclusive functional things like special weapons and armor only the chosen can have. Getting things at a slower pace is enough work, no more odds need to be stacked onto that. If a person feels they need better weapons for being "good" at PvP, that just sounds like they're so fragile they want to maintain unchallenged superiority so they can stroke their ego, and that should be incentive enough to change it against that mentality. Those who are truly skilled would want everyone to have an equal chance so they can have more competition to challenge. Gatekeeping only speaks to the frailty of human superiority complex. Anyway I put enough in here. Thanks in advance to anyone who may actually take the time to read.

                    • I just grind until I get 7 wins and go for Rep on weeks like this. Get a bunch of engrams from rank ups and at 7 wins it’s like a 1/3 chance to get a free engram. This season’s been a little weird (finally pulled a good MG after 18 rolls) but most trials ones tend to have multiple solid rolls. 99% of players won’t notice a gun not being adept. It’s more of a flex than anything else
