It’s not some complicated algorithm working tirelessly to hand build every match and make every engagement fair, it divides the community into brackets and where possible, populates games from each bracket.
That’s fine, right?
But here’s where the problem comes in. You can verify this on destiny tracker yourself if you’d like.
The average Destiny player has a 0.6-0.7KD.
That means, roughly half the community is below 0.6 and half is above.
To be specific, most of the Destiny community is dying more than they kill.
Once you push up to 1.0 KD, specifically once you hit 1.2KD you are in the top 18-20% of all Destiny 2 players.
1.0KD and above is one bracket.
This means, as far as the algorithm is concerned, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 players are all equivalent.
The proof this is how it works?
If there was any further division of the top 18% of the playerbase, people with 2.0KDs would need 20-40 minutes to load into a game. But they don’t. It takes exactly as long as it does for 1.0KD players.
When you look at the state of connections in destiny, we can’t afford to step any further away from CBMM, and even if we do, it won’t fix anything.
Unsurprisingly, the pvp playerbase of this largely PVE game isn’t substantial enough to sustain a healthy enough pool in each bracket.
Personally, my advice, if you truly care about a quality PVP experience, play a pvp dedicated game. Destiny pvp will never be able to compete with games who’s entire budget went into their pvp experience.
The crucible can’t be fixed, it never actually worked.

Apathy is your friend here. Not a pvp guy, and I'd have to guess my kd proves that, I don't know what it is. I've always thought if you really took pvp seriously, why would you choose Destiny ? Seems like other games are much better suited for it. Just kinda feels like squeezing blood from a turnip, at this point.

6 Respuestas
1.0KD and above is one bracket.
That’s not how skill brackets work. The brackets adjust to who is available to play. I average around 1.3kd and I often match with people <1.0kd (sometimes even as low as 0.5kd). This is in the ‘strict’ SBMM comp playlist. Also, Bungie doesn’t just use kd to determine your skill rating.
The crucible can’t be fixed, it never actually worked.
This. Their entire design philosophy of how they want/thought Crucible could work is flawed in every sense. It was fun and interesting when it started in Destiny 1 because it was different, but it has not stood the test of time because it simply doesn't work.

Given that we've had periods of great pvp, I disagree. Forsaken and 30th Anniversary prior to subclass 3.0 garbage was fantastic just to name a couple. There's been high points. That's whats piss*d the pvp community off so much. We've SEEN them do well. We've played in decently balanced sandboxes-moreso than currently-and then they continually screw it up.

4 RespuestasBungie doubled down on sbmm. To be fair though, the "rofl noob stomp" lasted several years. I suppose the internal data doesn't support cbmm. Especially since several competitors have recently released. Also, connections aren't any worse than before but match quality is drastically higher. As a final thought- seeing so called " highly skilled streamers" be on the receiving end of a stomp and threatening to quit has been pure bliss.

I would add Some players do not like Skill-Based MatchMaking (SBMM) because they feel that it negatively affects their experience in online multiplayer games. Reasons why some players dislike SBMM include: It can lead to more one-sided matches, where players are constantly matched against opponents who are much better or worse than they are. It can reduce the sense of accomplishment for players who are skilled, as they may feel that their victories are not as meaningful when they are consistently matched against similarly skilled opponents. It can make the game less enjoyable for players who are less skilled, as they may feel that they are constantly being matched against opponents who are much better than they are. It can limit the diversity of match experiences, as players may have fewer opportunities to play against opponents with different playstyles or strategies. It can limit the social aspects of the game, as players may have fewer opportunities to play with friends or against opponents with different skill levels. Some players argue that it doesn't take into account other factors, such as internet connection quality, which can affect the fairness of the match. Some players argue that it takes away the chance of having a good match even if you are playing against someone with a better skill level. It's worth noting that not all players dislike SBMM and some argue that it provides a more fair and balanced experience, as it helps to ensure that matches are more evenly matched and that players are more likely to be matched against opponents who are similar in skill level.

in reality sbmm is trash in casual playlist, especially in a game like destiny that use p2p and lot of players (especially console players) have bad connection or use wi-fi

56 RespuestasI have no idea why people continue to post about this. Bungie said SBMM isn’t going away.

1 RespuestaEverything you just said is completely wrong. It doesn't go off your average historical k/d at all. It goes off your last few matches. If you go 7.0 then the next time it breaks up the teams you'll be put into the next higher bracket. If you go .5 you'll be put into a lower bracket. It keeps doing this match by match until you level out. If sbmm is working you won't average more than a 1.0 over the season in sbmm playlists. I find it hilarious that you are so clueless. I mean, your theory isn't even logical. If your playing sbmm you won't average a high seasonal k/d unless you are actually the best of the highest bracket.

Thanks for the explanation. Maybe it's time to go to another game as they double down on SBMM and force a 50% win ratio, which does not encourage me to buy the next expansion.
