And I mean WWI, WWII, Pacific War, and Vietnam War? I don’t know why, but especially when I listen to music form the 40s or think about the 40s, or when I listen to songs about these wars, I wish I was there. I wish I was in the naval battles in the Pacific. I wish I was I was there when we started Operating Torch. I wish I was there when Japan surrendered, Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
I was on the USS Casin I few months ago. It’s a smaller destroyer class down in Boston. As I explored the ship (it was only the main deck and floor. They also had little informational things) It was almost like I was there. Men rushing to and from, air cannons and ship cannons going off. Planes whizzing by. Ships getting hit and exploding.
I took a minute to stand at the guard rail and just think. Imagined what it was like for the sailors as they neared battle and took their last looks at the calm ocean before they were thrown into hell.
I don’t know why, but I honestly wish I was there. I wish I could have fought in the Pacific War with everyone else. I was given the chance, I’d go back in time to join the war. I really would.

It’s not fun It’s not noble It’s not heroic Like I get the armed forces need to persuade people to join up, but they should not ‘want’ to go and kill people regardless of the justifications. Any real knowledge of the kinds of things that happen in war should horrify you, because they are not the same as what happens in Hollywood movies.
