Unfortunately, it’s probably never going to be a permanent mode. They are FAR too concerned with splitting the playerbase too much. That and the playerbase of trials is continuing to dwindle as more low to mid skilled stop playing regardless after getting all the non adept rolls they want. Who wants to get stomped continuously? They’ll return next season to farm 1 or 2 new trials weapons and then (once again) never touch it until next season. With this in mind, those type of players will dip out of trials either or one or two weeks since it’s so easy to farm engrams… Then again… What do I know? I don’t play trials, so…

  • Don't get me wrong, I'm not disagreeing with you. But freelance doesn't affect iron banner or the competitive playlist, and the Bungie figures proved that there were many team players who also played in the solo trials playlist on that particular week. No one complains about freelance in IB or comp. So what's the fuss about trials? I think it's down to the elite top teams not liking the fact that they have to play similar skilled teams, so it's harder for them to farm adept stuff and do carries. Plus they think it's their god given right to go flawless, and although we all pay for the game, lower tier and casuals should not be able to. " It's end game and supposed to be hard" they yell, but even the top streamers and carriers were ready to throw the towel in when they were matched against similar sweaty players. If freelance was permanent, and we could turn OFF cross play, I would happily play trials every week. I enjoy a challenge and strive to someday go flawless, but it's like trying to knit fog when solos are matched against well drilled teams in full communication, plus the adverse affect that playing on different platforms has. And I want to get to the lighthouse by my own doing, and not by being carried.

Streamers want to post videos of them curb stomping casuals. They love the headlines of 40 kills, gold medals etc. They play 8-15 hrs a day and want to casually sit back and plough through casuals. Bungie is happy to oblige and tilt the scales in their favour. It was hilarious to hear them whine when mm was based on total wins. I have never heard so much collective moaning from a bunch of entitled pre Madonna’s

  • Freelance will only do so much to bring people back into the playlist. Very little casual or pve mains would actually try to farm adept weapons, due to the rng and immense difficulty of 7 wins and EVEN MORE wins after. They’ll settle for a good non adept and stop playing entirely. Why should they enter a playlist or a mode in game they hate? These players are FAR more likely to farm upgrade materials in nightfalls, which are arguably easier and in some cases, MUCH faster, nullifying the upgrade material grind for trials more or less. Freelance is nice is suppose, but people who hate pvp or feel like a burden in trials (which is nearly all casual and pve mains) are FAR more likely to avoid it regardless. But like I said, I think any point I try to make is invalidated more or less since I’ve NEVER played a single game, for personal mental health reasons. I wish I could play, but I doubt I could legitimately handle the strain.

100% agree. Streamers want it to be easy for themselves and hard for everyone else. For whatever reason they have the loudest voice and bungie caters to them. I play on a PS4 and the thought of playing solo against premade fireteams who have systems that run the game infinitely faster is insane ( + cheats). The matchmaking system (win based) alone is unbalanced and then you remove freelance and add in forced crossplay; holy hell what a recipe for disaster.

Yup. It's like racing against Usain Bolt, giving him rocket powered shoes and you wearing wellingtons. It's a forced one sided scenario. And it's a fact that xbox doesn't pair up with ps ....just let us turn cross play off!!!

Best is when they tbag. It’s like, dude you just ran a race against me while on roids running downhill while I ran uphill. Seriously; you feel good about yourself. Switch to a PS4/console with controller and park your unfair advantage that Bungie gives you.

  • Trials is bleeding players every weekend. The streamers are eventually going to get to sweat games for the entire weekend. Remember. Solo players, casuals, and pve mains have more or less already had enough and will probably not be back until next season. It’s a long season, which compounds the situation FURTHER. Every week, a large amount of trials casuals are getting the rolls they want. Why should they continue playing trials? Upgrade materials are arguably easier to get in nightfalls. Adept weapons can be earned from gm nightfalls. Why should they attempt flawless? One or two new trials weapons next season will only keep these players in trials for 1 or 2 weekends before they get the rolls they want and dip until next season, where the process restarts again. Bungie needs to accept. Trials design CANNOT keep low to average players long term.

  • It has nothing to do with “getting stomped” 😂 The casual player base was never going to stick around past getting the guns they wanted. It’s Reed’s week and most already got their god rolls.

  • So true. Why should they continue playing? I doubt anyone under “above average” tier would play trials long term.

  • To be honest, I would if it wasn't solos v teams. I used to enjoy grinding comp for the pinnacles, but they stopped them, so nothing to grind for. I would for trials gear though.

  • It actually takes little time to get god roll weapons and armor from trials. Trials engrams drop so much, and the ability to focus engrams cuts down the need to grind to a minimal. Would you still play trials if you got everything you wanted from it? Would you continue being a lamb for slaughter just for upgrade materials? This is the stance MANY of the solo, pve players, and casuals have taken about trials. They have what they want. They aren’t coming back until next season.

  • In all fairness too many splits too the player base isn’t good.... either theirs going too be a permanent solo queue or no flawless pool... what one is more fair in your opinion??

  • It’s a hard decision. I pick solo que I suppose, since nearly all the playerbase doesn’t farm adepts anyway. It’s kinda like week 1 I suppose. But I also know that if we go to week 1 rulesets, it won’t bring virtually anyone back either. DESPITE what streamers say. Week one is an outlier and worked as well as it did because loot was FAR more plentiful. People have their god rolls now. Why would they come back. But I think my choice carries little relevance since I don’t play the playlist.

  • Look at my situation, I have the rolls I need and really only return if the map is fun... we don’t really play passed Sunday because we don’t see a point too continue on in the week. We get our flawless’s and leave. I’d pick the solo queue aswell knowing that most of the issues people have with trials is accessibility for solo players. The dream of week one trials will never come back I figure... the reason week 1 worked so well was the player base was so inflated. If they increased drops of weapons and armour on wins AND losses I’d recon more people would come play.

  • Loot incentive alone is not enough. Casuals for a long while have despised pvp. Lack of updates along with the increasing skill gap… Trials simply doesn’t attract people of casual and pve mains long term. The only way it would is if it raid down adepts for all. This destroys the concept of trials and destroys the value of adept weapons. Can’t happen at this point. I don’t play trials because it’s a legitimate health concern for me at the moment. I wish I could try it and get loot. Even tried for the inclusion club for help. But never got answered, so… that’s the end of that.

  • Flawless loot should stay as a flawless reward but honestly non adept loot should be given away like candy each game... imagine getting a 63+ rolled armor piece each game... If you’re struggling too find a team, add me. My groups always looking for v-card flawless people. Gotta get that seal somehow.

  • I need to try to get my life together before I attempt trials. My rng is, well… Embarrassing in this game. I can give you a ton of reasons why. But I doubt you want a list. Even if I did go flawless, my rng would easily work against me, and guarantee a f tier roll. My mind can’t handle that type of disappointment right now, not to mention I don’t want to burden your team in any way. I thank you for your offer, but I have to get my life together right now.

  • No their primary concern is reducing 5-0 5-1 games. At this point their is no point in playing trials if you are a -blam!- snack for the sweat lords. How am I expected to compete when the matchmaking Is the exact same as before the revamp with no soloque?

  • Pretty much. Trials loses players rapidly every week due to this reason. Look on the bright side. If enough people leave, sweats will only face sweats and start complaining again. Trials isn’t capable of convincing low to average players to play long term. Bungie needs to understand this and accept it.
