It's genius...
It's so stupid and simple, your "weapon rolls" can be memorized in collections much like Exotics are memorized, and you can reaquire the rolls you had much like reaquire exotics. If you select a weapon it opens a new tab with all the rolls you aquired or "saved". Your weapons come back in your inventory with 1100 power and no masterwork. Meaning you don't need to have all your god rolls in your active inventory, infact, in collections tab you could choose to delete the bad rolls just like items in vault to remove clutter.
For devs and programmers who believe this would introduce absolute chaos in their existing database you are wrong, every roll combination is pulled from shared pool that way if you have 125000 players with same weapon roll, it's a single weapon not 125000 instances of that weapon, I think this is one of the reason why their game is not optimized well.
Yeah only for weapon rolls, armour rolls would cause problems because you could "clone" your god rolls :D

12 RespuestasIt's not genius. Some weapons have in excess of 50,000 combinations...per single item. And throughout the game unknown thousands upon thousands of items are dismantled. That would require a very substantial database per player and a potentially very unweildy UI to retrieve selections from. It is way past needing a solution though, for many players. Looking at the new and reprised weapons for S15 was more a dismay with the full and non expanded vault rather than any pleasure or excitement. They need to do something.
It's genius... It's genius...
😂 if only programming was so easy, bro you're a prodigy. Apply to bungie rn and pitch them the revelation

3 RespuestasWhy not just make it so duplicate weapons stack

4 RespuestasOr you know…. Just drop old gen consoles and everything will be fine

Editado por A_mo: 8/22/2021 10:52:15 PMSo all the game needs to do is save one copy of every weapon roll possible? Something about that still seems a bit chaotic. But I guess it already does. Still seems strange though.

3 RespuestasI like how you say “Devs agree” and then proceed to tell them how the game is programmed and that if they disagree they are wrong
-
A typical gun with 9 barrels, 7 magazines, two sets of 6 traits and 4 possible Masterwork stats to select from has over 100,000 fully unique rolls. For the weapons that drop after Strikes, Crucible and Gambit, they have two sets of 12 traits and their total number of unique rolls is around 450,000. Regardless of how many people have each exact roll, your proposed solution still has to store information about every single one of them.
-
Saying "it's genius" doesn't automatically make it so.
-
By the way. Survivor's Epitaph has got 9 possible barrels, 8 possible mags, 12 possible 3rd column perks and 12 possible 4th column perks.
If you select a weapon it opens a new tab with all the rolls you aquired or "saved"
If any UX Developer had gotten that task they would fire themselves by free will.
It's genius...
There is literally no "genius" in that idea. ( Devs Agree )

Difficult topic. Good arguments for both sides.
-
I mean sure but why say devs agree if you have no links and honestly no trust from us to believe that you’re a dev? Unless you’re telling them to agree in which case that’s weird.

While i like the concept of saving a roll to the collections, it is still limiting to players who have multiple uses. Ex. I prefer my demolitionist roll gnawing hunger for my voidlock, but like my subsistence rampage version for my titan. Which do i say? Banshee could actually be a gunsmith. Remember they wanted us to do something with our 5th better devils? How about when we tear down a weapon with certain rolls we get a 'rampage perk' currency. inb4 added another currency, this would be similar to the seasonal items (hammer, lure etc). We could then apply those attributes to a weapon at the gunsmith. This would still fall in line with bungie's grind mentality as we would still need to earn these weapons with the perks but could assign/modify a weapon similar to how we modify our armor. This system would most likely be less data heavy from a programming pov.

2 RespuestasIdk why we didn’t have infinite vault space (if you ignore the facts of probably game storage) because as a collecting game, going out and getting a trash roll or god roll is a keeper. Being able to keep everything would make every activity feel so much better then just having to delete everything because I don’t have space for it… obviously this an opinion with no actual full thought out into it lol
-
I dont know about the game saving rolls we've acquired, but collections is the solution to limited vault space. We should be able to get things from collection that have a static roll, just to have/use it while grinding for the roll we want. Since we cant, people just stash stuff in the vault cause they know in some cases, they cant get items again period.

2 RespuestasLove this, such a perfect solution if you don't have any understanding of systems and programming. Then the added sauce of telling people who do know, that it's just because they don't understand. Honestly this is the kind of comment that if it was made in person to the Devs I believe it would end with the commenter losing most of their teeth.

11 RespuestasJust triple the vault space. I currently don't play hunter just because playing with all three characters managing vault with just 500 limit is too much work. Even playing on two characters it's VERY annoying. With larger vault space you don't have to do cleanup sessions so often. It's crazy that with all these random rolls especially armor 2.0 change vault space hasn't been increased. Do Bungie employees really play this game like regular people would?
I think this is one of the reason why their game is not optimized well.
You clearly don't understand them or the game you are playing. They already optimized the game. They optimized the game so you could grind the hamster wheel forever chasing that carrot dangled in front of you. And that carrot that you see in front of you, they control it so they can change it into a different carrot at their whim! And while you are doing this over and over, the idea is for you to throw your money at the screen again and again. It's genius!

4 RespuestasEditado por Monarkey: 8/23/2021 11:57:19 PMHow’s that genius? I don’t need an unneeded tab in collections with 30 pages worth of rolls just to look for one specifically
-
2 RespuestasOr once we acquire what we consider our god roll to be, let us save that roll as the new standard inside collections.
-
The memory issues with thousands of roll combinations alone will make these "devs" jump off a building.

Makes too much sense

(NOT Clickbait)
... turns out to be clickbait

it's a single weapon not 125000 instances of that weapon
something somewhere still has to track that 125000 people have unlocked that particular roll so uh, yeah, it's essentially 125000 instances of that weapon.

1 RespuestaWhat devs?

9 RespuestasI rather go back to static rolls, I have never been a fan of random rolls in the first place. I don’t get why not just let players craft whatever weapon they want with whatever roll they want by acquiring materials. The stronger a perk, the more likely it is to drop materials at higher level end game content. It would Basically work sort of how the game works now only players have full power to customize their weapons and not feel like anything they do is a waste of time. This random roll gambling addiction you guys have is ridiculous.

Wow I just got clickbaited by a forum post
