I want to have a legitimate discussion about this, why is there so few ways to actually interact with others in game? It feels like the only time I ever interact with people is third party chats or the forums. The people in the tower might as well be NPCs, the game feels so much like a single player game.
I think it would be healthy for the game to have more ways to interact with people and reasons to talk to people that are in front of you. This game just often times feels lonely outside of my clan discord and even the few times I do type in the in game chat, no one ever responds. How do yall feel about the level of social interaction that happens through in game mediums?

I'm always emoting with players in the tower or at the end of strikes. I'm always partied up with my fireteams. Mic'd up when im solo, but most arent micd up or dont play with a hot mic when solo. I kind of like it this way. I remember back in the days of Halo when everyones mics were on and thered be an annoying guy with music playing in the background or someone eating corn nuts.

13 RespuestasIf you look at how few people actually raid and then look at the amount of posts in lfg for non raid activities that say “no mic” I think the answer is gamers don’t like to socialise. When you watch gaming twitch streamers open up about their social life, a lot of them (anecdotal) don’t like socialising, or can find it extremely stressful. This big tech dream that “more and more people are connected” is bullshit if you ask me, we may be connected with devices that enable us to have faceless interactions, but if anything, technology has made us less social. Can you imagine having proximity chat in destiny PvP? Jesus fkn Christ, that would be horrendous 😂. I got an Xbox 360 when it first released, back then I was excited to talk to people ingame, jump forward to today and i have everything set up so only people on my friends list can communicate with me, that alone says how hostile game chat can be. I’m happy to talk to people if I’m invited to a group, something that made me laugh recently was I joined an lfg nightfall team, I had a mic and always say “hey how’s it going” normally I get no answer but this time the guy forgot he was un muted and I heard him mute himself. 😂😂. That sums up online gaming today. Outriders just released, hugely popular coop pve, all I hear is people want the ability to play solo, destiny is the same, more and more people want content they can solo. Gamers don’t like people 😂😂

2 RespuestasI agree man. In D1 people were always sending you messages asking if you wanted to raid or pvp or whatever. I used to just get random invites to a party just for the guys to complement my armor and we end up hanging out for 30 minutes lol. One time we had half the tower lobby do a fashion show 😂😂😂. Dont get any of that in D2 though, I dont know what happened but people just dont interact anymore.

2 RespuestasIt is not just in Destiny. When I was growing up, I would talk to people in the grocery line, at a bus stop, library, at fast food places, everywhere. It was just what people did. They talked to each other. Now people act strange when I turn around in the grocery line and start talking to them. They act like they don't know what to do or are scared. Maybe it is me...

1 Respuestathey dont want you standing around talking. they want you in world doing activities with their chosen meta.
-
3 RespuestasSorry but I don't want to hear kids smack talking. I absolutely hate people who leave the mic open in crucible. Instant mute every time.

I've found myself playing some Phantasy Star Online 2 recently, if they where ever looking for inspiration on how to approach interaction, that might be a good start...might.
-
2 RespuestasI'm down to socialize it's just difficult cause I'm a girl and I hate getting trash talked...Which is probably everyone not just girls. Isn't there in-game voice channel (except the tower I guess, that would be interesting)?
-
There should be an option to turn your mic On and Off for the general population in the Tower. Don’t want to hear kids going on about random BS? Click. But if you don’t mind swimming through the audio ether I think it’d be worth using. Someone can ask a question and see if someone answers.

1 RespuestaWe have emotes We have text chat (well on PC anyway, sorry console players) People hardly if at all use these.
-
17 RespuestasIts up to the player if they want to communicate. Theres plenty of ways to do it in game. Players just decide not to. Nothing bungie can really do.
-
3 Respuestasbecause other people have cooties.
-
I like the way it is to be honest. I do grandmaster strikes without a mic. I’m a pretty shy person tho but I understand your side as well.
-
Socializing in shooters has been a downward trend for years.
-
I’m afraid I’m going to be that guy, like I said, gamers aren’t sociable people anymore. Back in the day yes, but not anymore. I’m not saying your idea is bad I just think it would be a waste of resources.
-
1 RespuestaI interact when I need something, but otherwise I prefer to be left alone in game.
-
There used to be way back when it was a game!
-
1 RespuestaI don't talk to randos, rarely would I ever respond depending on my mood, I usually mute people

This games fakes a lot of things, being social and progress ar the biggest ones.

2 RespuestasEditado por DragonKnight901: 4/22/2021 12:01:42 PMHonestly if they added more ways to interact with other players it would be nice but i wouldn’t use it, that’s part of my anxiety talking though XD. Edit: Now that i think about it more, alot of people in game might also be worrying about what others will say to them so some might just not take the risk to talk at all to others.

2 RespuestasBecause it will be toxic. Every game I’ve played on console that allows chat box is so toxic Gaming community is so toxic that black ops had to remove emblem editor cuz it was so racist and hateful I go on destiny forums and say I love destiny, and get hate mail... Only on apex forums do ppl stand up for destiny and Vice versa 😂 Bungie knows what’s up.
-
1 RespuestaThere's definitely not enough ways to interact with other players, especially for game that's marketed as MMO
-
2 RespuestasBecause Bungie has no idea what they are doing when it comes to the socialization side of this game. They try to call Destiny an MMO, it's not and never will be an MMO in any sense of the word. It's an FPSRPG, and that is all.

7 RespuestasWouldn't matter anyway. Try to talk to people in crucible you either get silence or someone hopping on to the mic to say "Shut the f**k up, f****t". Raids, dungeons, Trials, higher tier Nightfalls, Presiage, Harbinger you cant matchmake in to, so you have to go to LFG for help, and what do most LFGs start off with? "Must KWTD" or "Extra sweaty, be good or kick". Try to join a clan and maybe get some of the raiding done? Well what people dont realize, a lot of these people in clans already have a group of social friends they raid with and when you ask for help they'll say "sorry, already raided, maybe next week". Unless you have friends to play with, you're pretty much shit outta luck. In a game supposedly built for team based play, its remarkable how alone this game makes you feel.
