Message to Lore Community...All of it
There is lots of tension...well...everywhere here. Hate towards fan fiction, rebuttal whether good or bad. Just pure chaos. We have seen from Ninja that lore is indeed the place for fan fiction. So there should be terms to distinguish the two so those looking for fan fiction find it and those who could care less can find their lore. I love both lore and fan stories. So why cant it just live peacefully together?
What if those writing fan fiction write FF at the beginning of their title to distinguish it from the lore stuff. I think then we could solve the problem of lore people seeking lore and accidentally finding fan fiction. I think that's fair. I'm just trying to find peacefully solutions so we dont have civil war here. No need to get frustrated over this. It's just a game after all, even if people are extremely devoted. We shouldnt be getting so annoyed over it.

2 RespuestasAt this point I don't care anymore Most fanfictions are easy to spot from that title alone, and you're not gonna regret the five seconds it took you to realize it's a fanfiction if the title doesn't give it away If there are too many fanfictions just make a real lore post and start a conversation, no fanfiction has ever reached trending from what I can remember Tldr: just ignore it, and if it's hard to ignore make a lore post yourself

1 RespuestaThere were all of two posts addressing it directly. There was also the two ShadowHeartMC for community focus, however the intention behind them wasn’t about fanfics. Only the replies made it that way. This isn’t as big of a problem as [u]this[/u] post is making it to be, because it’s always a topic that’ll be brought up due to the difference of opinion among users here. There’s always the people who’ll downvote and reply “cringe” or “muted” to a fanfic post, topics like these are giving an avenue for that discussion to take place. The tension is always there, we’re just giving it an opening to leak out. It’s unfortunate, because you can’t play hero trying to give everyone a solution, when in fact you’re just increasing the tension by acknowledging it and giving it another chance to be discussed. This is the internet. You can’t change people’s opinions, or solve any problems relating to them. Also remember #lore is a shared community with #destiny2. Lore isn’t isolated like off-topic or the help forums, so users there see every post despite not being considered a part of this community. The tension is always, and will always be here. This won’t be the last time it’s discussed... unless Ninjas start shuriken-ing people to oblivion.

1 RespuestaThe issue for me is that Lore is not the correct place for fan fiction. I realise that Bungie have decided that it is, but for me that decision was wrong when they made it and it is still wrong now. Can we please have a sub-forum of Lore. Call it Fan Fiction (or Fan Fic, or something). It'll give all of the fan fiction writers somewhere they can call home and might go some way to stopping at least some of the arguments, spam and hate that go on around here.

I mean, write all you want, but if ain’t lore it’s got no business in the [i]lore[/i] section of the forums. Just because Bungie is too cheap to give y’all a board doesn’t mean you should subject lore fans to your writing. There are plenty of fan fiction websites out there...

1 RespuestaIf this forum functioned properly it wouldn't be a problem. FF would quickly be burried when it's almost immediately downvoted to zero, and stays there for good. The broad majority don't want it here and never have, and people long ago started downvoting it on sight because they resent it taking up space. FF can create their own site or FB page/group for the handful of people who are interested. The fact that they insist on not doing so despite years of overwhelming disinterest seems to indicate that this is more about an attempted validation of self worth than just sharing with fans, which would ironically be better accomplished in a tight group removed from the general population and its disdain.

I just ignore them, rather easy to do really. If they aren't in the lore section I report them and move on. No biggie. Only lore posts I hate are the... Well the crow fan fiction. Getting out of hand.

I don't know what this is all about. If Bungie can't moderate this in their own forums. Then they aren't doing a good job of moderating this area at all. Just saying. I'm sure there is a place for everything here. Not sure how they moderate it or what the rules are for these things. But in my opinion, it should be clear cut and in black and white. This is a forum after all, where certain rules have been set and is being applied. I believe this issue should be under that as well. If not, then that's just poor moderation. 2 cents.

Agreed. It doesn’t seem unreasonable or hard to put a fanfic tag in a fanfic post, let alone 2 letters in the title. It’s a courtesy.

What happened to the Community page? A few years ago, that was the place to post stuff. I wrote my own Strike and Raid ideas there a lot back in the day

4 RespuestasThe lore forum isn’t worse than normal, there has always been a dislike of fanfic written there by many, which is why a large majority of the time they are at 0 upvotes. Admittedly there are individuals spamming it more lately. I have always said please just clearly identify as fanfic, then I can ignore. Don’t title it as : “ New void Walker lore!!! “ if it is just your fanfic. Honestly don’t care if it’s in lore section but it would be better for people writing fanfic, people searching for fanfic and people wanting to discuss lore, to have a separate section. However I feel that bungie will keep it in lore [i]because[/i] of the complaints, kinda like they think they are sticking up for them lol. If you want to create a welcoming place for creativity to grow then do it.

Honestly stop posting fanfic with lore tag. I'm all for creative writing just don't slap a lable on it that some people can take as canon . FANFIC/FF should be used
