They'll add in challenges aiming to force you to play crucible and gambit with salavger's Salvo to get the ornaments.

You don't need Salvager's to complete the ornaments, but it definitely helps.

You can get the ornaments for Salvager's Salvo using any grenade launcher. I picked up all 3 ornament quests as soon as I got the launcher, and didn't pay any real attention and finished all in about 2 weeks of normal play.
