From bad connections to bad matchmaking to cheating PvP is broken.
I know I’m going to get a bunch of guys on here with a kd of 5 million but yah know what? It doesn’t matter.
Every kd is score worthless at this point because the game is just not functioning.
A 1.0 and a 5 are the same at this point.
If you have a 1 gig connection and the other guys have a 300mbps connection. That’s not balanced and not going to play right. I know I’m a network engineer. And no it won’t scale the other guys connection. Bungie simply isn’t that good and it’s peer to peer.
At this point PVP needs a complete overhaul or simply go back to SBMM. Despite the carries and recovs crowd SBMM was incredibly popular made the game fun. Oh the most important thing for a game to be: fun.

Hackers are the only ones in trials right now. Its almost every -blam!-ing game people have 100% headshot kills, 100% wins, and a KD beyond anything comprehendible. Saw a dude on stream with a 157.0 KD.... Anti cheat my ass.

Radical idea here: How about some playlost feature SBMM, and others have CBMM? Say a version of control with each so that players can pick and choose which they prefer. Otherwise, there will either be a higher likelihood of heavily weighted matches, or there will be a system that forces people to literally wait 10+ minutes at its worst, potentially resetting matchmaking multiple times just to load into a game against a team of sweats using only the most meta of builds, who are also lagging to an extreme degree because they are located on the other side of the planet. Basically, someone gets screwed no matter which system is in place if there's only one. - CBMM causes players to potentially be matchmade against sweats in a much higher skill bracket than themselves - SBMM effectively punishes those in higher skill brackets with long queue times, laggy matches and a gaurantee of sweats using the meta which squashes any hooe of build variety. (Although arguably bungies balancing does that anyway)

1 RespuestaYep, matched against a trials sweat fireteam while playing showdown for the weekly, one of my teammates quit out pretty quick, then the game got stuck between rounds so i just thought this isn't worth it and closed the game. Ended up loading up Apex as almost like a cleanse from that shitty pvp experience in the crucible. (And Gambit before that)

erm...Stasis IMO just made it's "unplayability" (assuming that's a word) complete. Engineer all you like matey. The game has been farked by the Bungie team.....by design. It's accelerated shotgun & hand cannon apes with high mobility stasis builds that are beefed up in PvP. There are many, many, many players who use it just to stomp their advantage. Period. No "casual fun' as Bungie intended... gunplay has been lost forever in PvP. IMO all the best solutions for connections are worthless if stasis is allowed in PvP. May as well lag on the internet as getting frozen is inevitable....either way, a player will be stuck and cannot do anything to defend the team/ones' self. The Crucible cannot be fun anymore, bud. I tried it just a few minutes ago with my best mate, and we quit "casual" Control in utter disgust. Not about SBMM or CBMM etc matey. Bungie has encouraged & promoted Darkness into a Light bearer's dwelling. That's what's wrong IMO. Thank you for the post, I see your point of view from an expert's technical perspective. I hope you see mine from a layman's and paying persons' perspective. Cheers!

3 RespuestasI honestly like the pvp atm. Only issue I’m having is being paired with a team of potatoes, and I’m against a team that seems to know how to play the game lol
-
4 RespuestasI'm currently playing showdown and it's easily one of the worst modes I've ever played. Vault showdown asap

3 RespuestasYou’re right. P2P has been the main cause of the inconsistency in gameplay experienced. Factor in the other mentioned issues. 1-CBMM 2-Matchmaking Algorithms Then for good measure get ready for the real deal breaker. Cross play What you’re left with is a game mode that many, myself included, will avoid playing because it’s not fun.

7 RespuestasStasis is a problem in comp and trial...in QP is not as bad
-
Stasis is like 30% of it
-
sbmm had worse connections...

2 RespuestasThere’s also spawns being horribly programmed to make Opponents kill you right after you spawned. Removing a chunk of Maps didn’t help that Bungie.

Editado por mixitup1: 2/20/2021 10:17:56 PMAgree with all your points. Matchmaking is broke beyond belief. It’s shocking that Bungie don’t address these issues or speak about fixing these issues, all we get is talk about pve but never about pvp. Bungie should communicate positive feedback about these issues to the community. because agreed it’s broken in its present state.

3 RespuestasI have no problem with stasis. I have a problem with my scrub ass being stuck in QP with trials teams. I can’t move without being obliterated before I can pull a trigger. When sbmm was a thing it was at least competitive for guys like me. I know I need to get good but I believe I have reached my limits and I needed to vent.

12 RespuestasTechnically we still have SBMM due to team balancing, but I don’t think many of you know that when there is SBMM is in place there is slower connections, and when you do good one match you get paired up with sweats and Asians. I don’t want this to turn into COD where people are intentionally playing like shit just so they won’t get paired up in high skill brackets.

8 RespuestasEditado por Kiro - 13: 2/20/2021 6:08:16 PMwhile i liked sbmm, it gate keeps and has long ques. I dont play pvp any more thank the gods for that. but 15min survival ques were a problem. Also keep in mind that sbmm umm as the game puts it "separates the wheat from chaff" and bungie has moved more into a direction where they want rewards to be obtained by every one, even the "chaff". Not the early forsaken gate keeping days of 2100 for recluse. atleast 70% of the population never made 2100 when sbmm was in-place. People like to think they are great, amazing, good at something they invest time into. And thats the goal hence why survival was nerfed again...

Don't forget double damage.. Reason why you get mapped a lot from a shotgun..

Dogwater servers. Since the launch of the game pvp has been trash. Balance this balance that. Tweak this tweak that. It will never be good because it’s running on subpar Nintendo 64 servers. It’s always been either stomp or be stomped. Bullets register or ghost bullets. It’s blatantly obvious. Non stop enemies teleporting in pve, contacting servers, error codes. Bungie- check your internet. I can play any other game for hours on end with no issues with twitch running and not a single stutter or buffer. But yeah check my internet. Same thing last night. Whole damn server crashes and they blame my internet and then tweet that it’s fixed when it wasn’t fixed lol They lie so much at bungie. Just look at the masterwork on a weapon. It says 10 but it’s not, it’s 6. Why lie about something like that? Because that’s just who they are that’s why. It won’t ever change. They are just milking this game until it implodes.
-
Oh no, you don't 😀 The sandbox isn't going to be excluded from this. They have had a huge helping hand on screwing things up. I got to give credit where credit is due

When you’ve got a community ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED having access to things like Fellwinters, Messengers with Desperado and Mask of Bakris is fine, you’re gonna struggle to have any kind of constructive argument my dude. Stasis harms a lot of the cheap, jump around like an ape and get free kills with cheap guns play-style, so it’s never going to catch a break. PvP is currently about as fun as a penis flavoured lollipop, and whilst stasis needs some work, it’s the community’s attitude that needs completely overhauling more then anything.
-
Pvp has always been bad. D2 launch had some scraps of good that could've been built upon. But that's about it. Stasis is just another hotbutton for people to whinge about. Nothing else.

Oh the most important thing for a game to be: fun.[/quote] You have just demonstrated a fundamental misunderstanding of how online gaming works. A 1 gig connection will perform the same as a 300 Meg connection. Both have more than enough bandwidth to support it. The difference between a 1 gig connection and a 300 meg connection is the size of the pipe, not the speed of the data moving in the pipe. The speed of the data moves the same in both. The only way the 1 gig connection is superior is that it can accommodate more devices using data without any affect on someone that's gaming.

As a network engineer you should understand it is not about a bandwitdh, it is a latency issue. Otherwise you're right, lag is killing PvP and is the worst of the problems.
-
6 RespuestasEditado por Swiftlock: 2/21/2021 1:28:59 AMMm, nope. Stasis DEFINITELY is a problem. You CAN play around Stasis, but doing so means being careful around every single corner you approach so you don't instantly die to freeze effects + instakill weapons. And that's not fun.
-
1 RespuestaI don't know what the problem is but you're right pvp has big problems. You die behind cover, your health drops suddenly, blows that do no damage. It got a lot worse.

3 RespuestasPlaylists like trials will only thrive on weekends where the new weapons are available. And it will only be people throwing games for the bounty. Look at the week compared to last. On the Xbox fireteam finder, it was filled with a ridiculous amount of posts for cliff diving for the bounty. This week, is the shotgun, and I have seen only 1 wanting to do that this week. Even if they release many new weapons next season, with good rolls, all it’ll STILL be is cliff divers throwing games and each week, the pool will shrink RAPIDLY as people will get a roll they like enough, even if it’s not a god roll. Most people who cliff dived masterworked just because it had desparado, even if it didn’t have a perk to match with it. They probably aren’t going to cliff dive again until the other two weapons are earned from the bounty. And the process will repeat for ANY new trials weapon. People won’t seek true god rolls on trials weapons. It’s not going to be a hard decision for ANYONE to just keep the first one and never return. Nothing will change that.
