Does revolver have a faster ttk than other high impact snipers? Does it do more dps? Does mountaintop do more dps than another grenade launcher? No they have perks and utility that makes them strong. Now you have to look into why were these weapons given unique pinnacle perks? Because with weapons lasting forever once you got 1 of the best weapon type with a good roll that was it you had that gun forever. Why would you ever grind and using something new? Well to make you change gear the started adding anomalies with unique perks. In pve look at the old outlaw kill clip where you got 1 gun with that why would you ever go get another or switch weapons? So they added new stronger perks . It’s not just her der more dps. It’s more complex like, how do we get people to use new weapons over older ones with the same roll give them mod slots. Yeah they could just nerf that weapon but that’s a bandaid fix it fixes a symptom not the issue. So that’s power creep and why it’s a problem. When things last forever you have to add stronger things in order for many players to want them

  • MT’s splash damage, in air accuracy and velocity were all tuned. Big deal. Should have happened sooner. Revoker is getting less aim assist with its low zoom scope. Big deal. Should have happened sooner. Both changes were made in spite of sunsetting and will have more impact on use than sunsetting. Again, no power creep - since one hit kill special weapons are still prevalent and varied. Come on man, you’re a smart dude.

  • Won’t have more impact in light enabled content than sunsetting. The nerfs were good but again it’s a symptom not the cause. Here is a small list of all examples of power creep I have off memory. There is a bunch of evidence of this in destiny 2 here are some big ones. Weapon perks we had outlaw kill clip right? With the same guns being useable forever why would anyone replace their gun that already has a reload and a damage perk. Well give them better perks we got rapid hit and multikill clip. Two more powerful upgraded versions there is probably more perk examples like this but even another example of how to get us to replace our guns was mod slots the same gun same roll but with a mod slot is slightly stronger. As for guns themselves a big one was the first ikelos weapons. I get you can just nerf all too contenders but it’s much easier to trickle them out over time through sunsetting. These nerfs had to happen because there was no sunsetting to a degree. Sunsetting makes the balancing process easier as well as adding more loot incentive and chase. The game became a checklist of where once you got one of x gun you were done forever once you had the best of its archetype it’s crossed off that’s not healthy for a loot game. Balance patches won’t change that. I mean you can nerf everyone’s best gear bad every season then make them regrind gear at the same level of strength but that would leave a bad taste in players mouths and would be worse than sunsetting because then it would be bad in ALL activities to some players

With the same guns being useable forever why would anyone replace their gun that already has a reload and a damage perk.
The meta isn’t perk driven it’s archetype driven. Adjust the damage output, aim assist, handling, and reload speed of the underlying archetype and you’ll see meta slaves migrate. Regardless of perks. Why? Because god rolls don’t grow on trees with RNG.
Well give them better perks we got rapid hit and multikill clip.
Rapid hit and multikill clip are poor examples of power creep. Both are situationally activated and are mostly pve trash add clearing perks. Rapid hit is useful in pvp, because of the stability buff, but it’s not really any better than outlaw (you have to activate it X5 to get a similar boost to outlaw’s reload buff.) The fact is there’s no perk that hasn’t been tuned - and that can’t be tuned - in the sandbox.
Two more powerful upgraded versions there is probably more perk examples like this but even another example of how to get us to replace our guns was mod slots the same gun same roll but with a mod slot is slightly stronger.
Mod slots on D2 weapons were added in Forsaken in 2018. You couldn’t use them with D2Y1 weapons. Adding mod slots to weapons was meant to compliment adding random rolls back into the game and to create a real loot chase after MILLIONS of players left the game. Even by D1 standards the Y1 static rolled primaries were boring - and a step backward from D1’s loot chase. Reversing one of the worst design decisions in franchise history was not introducing unsustainable power creep. Why? Because - how did you put it - herr derr - DPS and TTK are fixed primarily by archetype, secondarily by your luck getting the perfect roll, and not by weapon mods. This is hilarious. You know at the same time Bungie cried “bbbbbut power creep” - Seasonal Artifacts were added in the Season of Undying / at Shadowkeep launch. With all the damage and resistance buffs that come with leveling up the artifact and getting a new seasonal mod slot on armor and weapons. And infusing weapons is the problem that’s preventing new gear from being created? That’s a joke. The real reason why we have 75% of the current legendary stock sunset is to create a contrived treadmill where the same guns with the same perk pool are fed back to the players while the players keep playing Bungie’s slot machine hoping that they’ll get something workable to drop. And do it all over again. This isn’t adding value to the player experience. Since Bungie doesn’t have the resources to refresh its vendors and add new strikes and maps - this is how they think we’ll stay engaged. If it works for you - awesome. But everyone taking time to speak up on Reddit and here about how much sunsetting sucks are not suffering from the inability to discern when they’re being peed on. So - gg’s. Hope you’re having fun. Hugs and kisses.

  • How many guns have been reissued? Not many really. Like it or not sunsetting does help power creep. It guarantees a constant loot grind. Which is good for me

  • I mean the unbrals has a lot in them. Which people complained and they said “we heard you” now how many did we get in beyond light not a lot from what I can tell. I don’t consider adored a reissue. Not the exact same model new scope and new perks that’s certainly not the “exact same” at least haven’t seen many others in beyond light

At best Adored seems to be what Luke’s talking about. But I expect more reissues than reskins. Less dev time, less cost.

  • Long Shadow and a bunch of others in the loot pool. They actually made Long Shadow a campaign reward.

  • Wrong. Long shadow has not been reissued it just hasn’t been sunset yet. It was in the world pool it can stay there. It only has a power cap of 1360 not 1410. NOT REISSUED just not removed
Beyond Light does have new weapons, armor, and Exotic items, but the loot that Guardians will encounter in the early portions of the expansion mostly drop randomly from enemies or are purchased from vendors using various currencies. None of these sources appear to be dropping loot that has been updated from Season of Arrivals, so Guardians are encountering the same loot they’ve been seeing for the past five months. Some of those items even have Season of Dawn power caps, meaning they’ll only be usable for the current season before their infusion caps will prevent them from being used in Power-enabled content.
https://www.thegamer.com/destiny-2-beyond-light-loot-upset/ I don’t have time right now to catalogue everything that’s been reissued, but Bungie has already responded on Reddit that they’re taking this feedback. Who knows what they’ll do with it. [Edit:] Someone on Reddit has figured this out: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/jt4lq3/a_list_of_all_nonsunset_weapons_and_how_to_get/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
