So, just to get this straight.
Sun-setting was necessary so that we would have a reason to chase "new" loot, and to remove "power" from the game, so that we had something to grind. Oh, and our old gear would be usable in all but the most difficult activities.
That was the pitch, right?
And the concerns were:
1. All seasonal content is light dependent, so sun-setting would affect pretty much the entire game.
2. Without substantive changes to the available loot, or the "new" gear, the player has nothing to gain from sun-setting.
3. Having re-issues without the ability to infuse old gear, just makes the hamster wheel feel pointless.
4. The whole upgrade/progression system becomes an exercise in futility because seasonal cap increases mean that we basically have to abandon our gear at the start of a season anyway.
5. What happens when they still have to balance/nerf, so the capped items become irrelevant regardless.
So, um, yeah. WTH Bungie?
I am in no way complaining about the substance of the new destinations, nor the story(less compelling Forsaken anyone?). But how in the -blam!-, do you introduce a system like sun-setting, then COMPLETELY -blam!- up the loot for a major expansion?
No vendor refresh. VERY limited amount of "new" gear. Dropping year 1 faction gear into the loot pool as what seems to be the main sets?
So, now, not only are we getting shit that we already have/had. You basically negated all of the time that went into getting a full faction set. So now, my Titan, who was always New Monarchy, just randomly gets Future war cult gear? So the choices we made(that actually made the game more interesting) are just moot. But not for any lore reason.
Nope, you needed filler loot. You literally just needed filler loot. Hell, Warmind, Undying, Drifter, etc...
ANY of those places would have made better(still lazy, but better), world drop loot.
So where are the supporters now? Bungie did EXACTLY what the detractors said they would do. You still think this was the way to go?
Europa is cool. The story is meh. The cost per season is fine. This is purely about the shittyest of shitty design decisions regarding loot.
Cheers.

There should of been vendor changes but you can’t honestly expect years of weapon accumulation to suddenly show up in one expansion. Don’t get me wrong: sunsetting is BS. It’s super frustrating. But this DLC is just getting started and we may find ourselves something comparable down the road.

3 RespuestasI can’t even imagine paying bungie $50 to remove half the game and all my gear lmao wtf is wrong with you kids

It’s funny because you pre ordered

46 Respuestas..and this was going to be your reaction no matter what. This was what I was expecting. Which is why I NEVER argued that people had to like it. Or that they shouldn’t be mad about it. Bungie’s -blam!- up was in the five PREVIOUS years of mismanagement that got them to this point. Not in doing what was necessary from Day One of Destiny 1 to fix it. I said this season was going hurt. I also said that NOTHING had been Sunset for the last six months. Well now it’a gone live. And now this community is experiencing what every other loot gamer goes through when there is a major expansion to a game.

This game is trash. Back to playing Witcher & Horizon Zero Dawn. I will buy HZD2 with the money I saved here.

1 RespuestaEditado por Yosemite Sam: 11/12/2020 3:49:37 AMIt's actually funny thinking about it. Sunsetting is only about finding the weapons you already acquired and just replace them with the new leveled ones for shards or a core 😄

39 RespuestasI dealt with literal months of ridicule over my stance on sunsetting, being fed literal bull over how it was gonna "AcTuaLly" work by its supporters. I knew exactly how it was gonna go down, with the lack of loot, the "it only effects endgame" lie, and the sheer laziness of it all, and much more. I hate to say I told you so to its supporters... actually, no I don't hate it all. F--k that. I. Told. You. So. Sunset my gear, sunset my business.

4 RespuestasHow many weapons are completely useless this season? Power capped out? How many weapons replaced them? Does anyone know?
-
Things that Bungie Could have done to fix the "problems" A. Make new gear with new perks that compete with the old stuff, optimize stuff so the game is smaller literally, but no content is gone, and destroy eververse so they can focus more on content and less on the looks B. Make all the old stuff useless and delete half the game and keep the same amount of content in eververse

I said the same thing about ss since they annouced it. When in the hell has bunjie ever come through on a promise or an idea? Editado por Super68: 11/13/2020 3:21:32 AM
Europa is cool. The story is meh. The cost per season is fine. This is purely about the shittyest of shitty design decisions regarding loot.
Good summary. Players have tried to convince Bungie that sunsetting was a terrible idea since it was announced as the latest Luke Smith scheme. Maybe in 6 months or so well see them recant on this the same way they did the mea culpa on Luke's other mastermind idea: More FOMO in seasons (those "you had to be there moments").

2 RespuestasDestiny didn’t have enough old loot to justify sunsetting. If you want a weapon type with a certain element and a certain frame, there used to at least be something there for you. Now that’s not guaranteed. The post about machine guns made that glaringly obvious. There are 3 elements and 3 types of frames...there’s also only 3 viable legendary LMGs this season. So if you need an element but hate the archetype you’re outta luck. It was pretty clear there wasn’t enough variety before, and it’s stupidly obvious now
Oh, and our old gear would be usable in all but the most difficult activities.
^this in regards to strike was straight up false out of the gate. Was getting slapped around in strikes on day 1 because it was supposed to be a section that light didn't matter, but not being 1100 minimum was constantly getting shredded by enemies

9 RespuestasLemme guess? 18-25?

3 Respuestasso you were expecting bungie to replace 3 years of weapons in 1 dlc? I honestly don't even know what to say anymore

I'm surprised there's anything left of this poor dead horse...Just let the poor thing rest in peace.

1 RespuestaLoving all the Sunset Salt

While I wasn't vehemently against sunsetting. You guys were pretty much right. Guns really are only usable in old patrols, very few new weapons, it's a pretty shit deal tbh. There was a much better way for bungie to go about this, but they chose the lazy route
-
How long time you need to understand that sunsetting was needed for Bungo but not for player???
-
Nah, it's actually FAR more about greed; otherwise Josh Hamrick and Vicarious Visions would still be pumping out peak gaming.
-
I'm certainly missing guns, its more of a massive nerf than actual sunset We are used to them destroying guns been going on since dark below Thats my start point , its nothing new , its called sunsetting right now bk in gjallahorn days they jyst nerfed it into the ground then new content came and its dead Theres no difference here just rather than have drip fed nerfs its the wam bam 'your weapon is now dead' Its the acceptance of it thats the issue and feeling that all your 100s or 1000s of hours you put in has been rightly justified by some quality replacement Do we have quality replacement; sadly no What will Bungie do? Who knows? There is no solution for your sunsetting grievances As I've said elsewhere all you can hope for is some kind of unvaulting of sunset weapons for limited times I just can't see Bungie flipping around on this I am at a lost with it too

2 RespuestasI mean...blues are somewhat relevant now that they don’t have a light cap. Don’t mind me, just looking under the carpet for the rays of sunshine here. 😁
Sorry, all out of salt.
1 RespuestaI usually wait to post things right after an expansion release to give it time. However, I have to say that this new expansion is pure crap. Old gear 95%. Removal of old gear that was good. Story was trash, worst in my opinion. Broken subclasses that removed the last ounce of fun from Crucible. Plus the last Vidoc makes you feel like Bungie lied to our faces, we gave them our money and then, they gave us the finger. This game is a perfect example of why Video games should be allowed to be returned. We don't get what we pay for and then we can't do crap about it.
