Blaze nods. “You’re going to live a nice long life....I’ll make sure of it.”
-
“Thank you.” *Dal frowns a bit, Blaze’s definition of a long life is ABSOLUTELY longer than Dally’s, and she doesn’t want to be immortal.*
-
“You okay?”
-
“Uh, yeah.” *Dal is a poor liar. She’s technically fine, but this is something that worries her.*
-
“You suck at lying. You know that, right?”
-
*She sighs.* “Yeah... so I’ve been told...”
-
“So what’s wrong?”
-
“I... I don’t want to be immortal or live to be 1000 or anything like that...”
-
“Oh.” Blaze goes white. “Did you think I meant ‘live a long life’ like that?”
-
“Yeah... because that’s what makes sense as a long life to you and Fox...”
-
Blaze holds his head. “I’m really sorry....I just meant a long human life! But when I say it like that, I feel like I’m talking down to you....”
-
“Just... just talk about it like that. It makes it easier to understand what you mean.”
-
“Alright....” Blaze says. “I just don’t want to sound like ‘oh, look at the little human with their short lifespan’.”
-
“I mean... but that what I am and what it is...”
-
“I mean I don’t want to sound like I’m talking down to you!”
-
“But you’re not... You’re just being accurate...”
-
“Yeah....still don’t like saying it though....”
-
“Well it’s just the truth...” “I’ll be around for maybe another 80 years, but you’ll be here until you decide you’re done.”
-
Blaze shudders. “Yeah.”
-
*Dally notices.* “I’m sorry... I should just stop talking...”
-
“No it’s fine.”
-
“It really isn’t... I keep reminding you of what you’ll have to go through...”
-
“It’s fine.” Blaze says. “I already think about it daily.”
-
“oh...”
-
“Like I said, it’s fine.”
