So for a few months now, basically ever since Season of Arrivals started, I've been wondering... why are you still so stingy with loot from all the activities that will soon be gone from the game? Like, you had a really great idea for the old raids, with loot dropping from every encounter regardless of how many clears you have that given week. So... why do Forges, The Reckoning, Menagerie etc. still work like they did months ago?
Like, I seriously don't get it. Why can't these activities shower us in loot when there's basically no content in the game right now? Why not let people finish their collections more easily or FINALLY get that one god-roll that's gonna be useless in a month anyway? Why can't I get like, 3 drops from every Reckoning-run? Why have you not gone back to half a dozen drops from the Menagerie the last few weeks?
You're obviously SO desperate to have people play this game non-stop and include the most absurd grind - this Festival of the Lost being the perfect example - while all the good old content just... sits there. I mean you could've boosted your player-numbers by quite a lot, I would imagine, by showering people in all the old guns they've always wanted, and you can still sell them back to them in half a year because they're gonna be useless anyway. Not that that is in any way justifiable (I despise the idea of sunsetting), I'm just saying, there is NO reason to still be this stingy.
This is something I've noticed for a long time now, how you make people play the same content ad nauseam, while half the stuff in the game - some of it even beloved by the community, like Menagerie - is just forgotten. You try so hard to get people to play every day, every week, every month, every season, while obviously struggling with content. And then you do your absolute best to burn everyone out. There were seven raids, SEVEN, this year, and only one ever had powerful drops. The raid-rotation many people asked for never came. It's all such self-defeating nonsensical game-design, and I really, truly just... don't get what you're thinking.
-
Put the bosses on daily rotation instead of weekly too. So you could do the Worldline catalyst in a week instead of five. Same with Menagerie for triumphs. While we're at it... take off the weekly restrictions on Whisper and Outbreak catalyst progression too. Actually, just bump all the weekly limits/resets up to daily and don't wipe checkpoints for soon-to-be-vaulted content. Doesn't seem like it should be that hard. What's the point of stretching out the process leading into DCV? Are we worried someone is going to "cheese" the Whisper catalyst by doing nine days of chests?

Oh, they are very generous with loot. They give us a ton......and it's all blue trash.
-
Somebody at Bungie definitely makes incompetent decisions or nobody makes decisions at all. Too few times in this game where I’m like “that’s a good idea”.
-
Because whats the POINT? The gears being sunset and the titles are a flair, nothing more.

2 Respuestas
Why won't the activities shower us in loot...
Never get married bud. You'll ruin your doilies.

Because intelligent game design and Bungie are oxymoronic. Just look at this latest event that literally discourages you from actually playing the event.

2 RespuestasBungie met with a Blizzard dev team to discuss rewards when they were working to fix the game prior to Taken King long, long ago. Blizzard had faced a rewards problem with Diablo and their fixes were generally considered to be top notch. What Bungie took away from the meeting is up for debate. Developers think about things like loot systems differently than players. I don't know if this guy was there or not... https://youtu.be/urijgWXLYck The loot system is just another problem Bungie is going to have to address. For sure they can't please everyone. Some people want hard to obtain rewards to stay that way. Not me... I couldn't care less if you get something in a day that took me weeks of play to get. It's the journey...
developers think about everything differently than players... and despite the scorn heaped upon them by some... getting people to play more is part of their job
1 RespuestaThey did do that with the raids, have you seen how many people are farming SoTP now
-
The only thing I’d want is all the Black Armory shaders. We get far too much crap as it is.
You try so hard to get people to play every day, every week, every month, every season, while obviously struggling with content. And then you do your absolute best to burn everyone out.
In fairness, wouldn't your proposal also lead to a fair amount of burnout? I feel as though it would incentivize players to play older content not because they want to but because it's the biggest bang for their buck with regards to materials. I do not know when or how Bungie plans to bring back vaulted content in the future, but to me it seems like it would be cleaner to implement any "let's help players to round out their collections" mechanics in that context since you'd presumably be focusing everyone on a specific location/chapter of the game vs. splitting the community's focus across several year's worth of content.
-
The only legacy activities worth farming right now are Reckoning and Menagerie. Reckoning for curated Nightwatch and Gnawing Hunger, and Menagerie for weapons in the loot pool that aren't being sunsetted. There's a few in Menagerie that aren't being sunsetted like Bad Omens and Last Dance.
-
Have you forgotten there is no cap to loot drops from 5 of the raids?
-
6 RespuestasBecause it's pointless.. why would you want to be showered in shit?
-
That doesn't make people spend money at Eververse or buy the next "DLC" for "cool" weapons and armor.
-
1 RespuestaWhen was the last time Bungie showered anybody with loot?
-
3 RespuestasReal reason? Too much work to make any changes, plus the chance of introducing new bugs.

3 RespuestasMost of the raids are farmable now. Strikes have double loot this week. It doesn't make sense to farm for gear that's just going to be sunset in the near future besides collection purposes, something that most people likely don't care about. "Nice! I've got this bit of 1s and 0s that is going to sit in my vault and I'm never going to play with it. That's my dopamine hit for the day." While I'm not saying Bungie couldn't have done MORE, in terms of giving us old loot easily. It's not that they haven't given us any easy methods to earn old loot. The evacuation quest is a good example.

11 RespuestasMy guess at Bungie reasons- Tons of loot means tons of dismantling which means tons of materials which means lots of people upgrading gear and buying everything early in the next season, thus reducing the grind in the next season. Getting lots and lots of armor drops increases chances of getting good armor rolls, having our “perfect build” set up, so we don’t care as much to grind for it next season. If we play activities and get tons of loot now, then it will feel like a drought when the season begins and players would be unhappy with how stingy it feels. The RNG loot system is a carefully calculated algorithm that is meant to create an endorphin spike at exactly the right times in order to keep people playing as long as possible. That careful and deliberate tweaking and conditioning would be jeopardized by tossing too much loot at players. Those are just my guesses at what Bungie thinks, I’m not trying to say that these are good reasons for what they do, or supporting it.
-
1 RespuestaBecause they don't want you to feel satisfied. Same reason things like shards and cores have limits, they don't really want you to ever finish something entirely.
-
agree that bungie is WAY too stingy with rewards because they base them on the no lifers instead of regular players
-
You'd get a concussion.
-
Bungie can't program.
-
Honestly. I’m so tired of the forges only dropping prototype weapons every 5 runs, if at all.
-
So people keep grinding mindlessly
