We don't have SBMM but we sure as tits don't have connection based matchmaking either. I have players from 4 different continents at the same time in every crucible game with p2p connectivity. This clearly will never be well connected so can we stop jerking each other off about it being cbmm and actually ask for something better than them pulling names out of a goddamn hat please?
There is a difference between having CBMM and just not having SBMM. One actually has CBMM and the other is the lack of SBMM. Big difference. Bungie said they were taking away SBMM, they never said they were giving us CBMM.

I know I keep matching against Germans, Russians and ppl from Spain And South America

2 RespuestasI'm tired of everyone pretending peer to peer isn't a problem.
-
4 RespuestasPlayers stopped playing, like they always do when CBMM is forced. You got what you all wanted.

2 RespuestasIf its not connection or skill based then what is it?

1 RespuestaEditado por Fibby: 10/7/2020 3:09:19 PMLack of region lock, too many playlists, multi-continent fireteams, and most importantly a low playerbase due to the extended season and content drought are some of the reasons why this happens. With that said, i feel like i had much better connections in pvp early in the season and mostly played others in my region, but that only lasted for a few weeks. After they patched the game my experience changed to what we have now, and at the time the player population was much healthier than it is now but i was still getting cross or multicontinent lobbies, so it can’t all be a population issue. I live in northern Europe and i’ve been regularly matchmade against Middle Eastern players since D1, even at times when the population has been at its peak levels, and its not uncommon at all to see people from Africa, Japan, North and South America, or from small island nations that are located in the Caribbean or Indian Ocean. Sometimes i’ve matched players from New Zealand and Australia, although that doesn’t happen all that often. Bungie sucks at matchmaking, always has and probably always will considering this has been an issue since D1 launch, and to top it off their netcode rewards you for lagging, almost every game has some players that don’t take damage properly, and the ones who lag so badly that they teleport all over the place all game long are allowed to stay in the game instead of getting booted to orbit. Although we don’t even pay for pvp in the upcoming DLC, these persistent connection issues is one of the main reasons i won’t be buying the expansion when it launches, instead i’ll wait and see if the content is worth getting, and buy it when the price drops, if at all.

10 RespuestasFunny. All the competitive players -blam!- and moaned because they had now place to “chill” against lower tier players, and they were stuck in a small player pool spread across the world resulting in garbage connections and long wait times. Bungie rolls over and removes sbmm (cue squeals of delight from the streamers) Sweats/streamers “chill” so hard that all the lower tier players are chased out.(but hey, look at a the cringy movie of the week montages!) Now the sweats are right back where they started and lower end players have nowhere to go(nooooo...sbmm competitive playlists did not work)with no prospects of enlarging the upper tier player pool. I guess it will soon be time to flip the sbmm switch and start the insanity all over again?

20 RespuestasThis happens EVERY time CBMM is in effect. You get to stomp the less skilled, until the less skilled get tired of it and quit playing. Once that happens, you start facing those on your level again, as all the less skilled just aren't playing anymore. Its self imposed SBMM.
-
6 Respuestas400k across 4 platforms. It’s cbmm But when it’s cbmm, majority quit playing in waves. Been here and seen it before. Eventually is will just be top players. And they will ask if sbmm is back. Because that’s all that will be playing. It’s been fun seeing the 60-100 kill game videos, but it comes at a price.
-
3 RespuestasSweats wiped out fun for regular players who quit so now the only ones left are the sweats and there you go, complaining....AGAIN after ruining PVP for the large part of the player base! You ask for CBMM, you got it. It is now SBMM....again. The wheel turned full circle...

1 RespuestaEditado por XXII: 10/6/2020 11:12:50 PMIts random based I should make a video of it on ps4 (steam hides ip and domain name) my xr700 will show you that you are infact not cbmm.
-
Agree, but what DID they give us.... because it sure is shite. just about every game that i played, before giving up, you would get 2 stellar performers in each side the rest ranging from okay to weak. Team lobbies excepted.
-
6 RespuestasPvP numbers too low to support CBMM so players from all over the world are in the same pool.
-
2 RespuestasThings were fine until the crybabies filled the forums with tears.

Exactly what I've been saying. Bungie didnt switch it to cbmm they just as they've always done take group a of players and group b of players and then group z of players and throw them into a match and call it good. Seriously though I've known there wasnt a switch to cbmm. When sbmm was on guess what nearly zero lag players. Goes to "cbmm" all of sudden every other match theres at least one or more laggy ass players.

Editado por SolarCerberuS: 10/6/2020 11:37:14 PMIt's 2020 alot of countries now have fibre connections which doesn't have the issues of copper connections. Over fibre signal speed is around 2/3 the speed of light which is still damn fast meaning with that kind of connection your signal can hit the other side of the world in less than a millisecond So location doesn't really matter What matters more is latency and packet loss Loading up your bandwidth excessively or having old/loose cabling, modem/router or playing over WiFi are likely bigger culprits of poor connectivity than physical location. Also depends on your ISP and their loading with many budget ISP only buying the bare minimum bandwidth If the host of the match has poor connection or running over WiFi then likely the entire match will be laggy but with CBMM the host would ideally be the best connection within the group

25 RespuestasThat's because the majority of players are leaving because cbmm sucks for them so the system needs to pull from farther away to fill games. This is what happens when under 400k people are playing.
-
It’s because there are no dedicated servers so when Jimmy groups up with Timmy and they live on other sides of the planet you are gonna have a laggy experience with one of them.
-
Editado por mja calg: 10/6/2020 9:54:10 PMThe game relies on Peer to Peer networking - just as Halo did back in 2008ish. Peer to Peer sort of works if their are a lot of people playing (there aren't), they are geographically close to you and they don't use a Potato for a Router. It also exposes your IP address to everyone in the game, so all sorts of fun and debilitating attacks or hacks can be done, and Bungle is no wiser to them because the traffic is between players, not any Hosting Servers. That's why most AAA and some Indie developers use Dedicated Host Servers, which have a much better game experience (i.e. you only send and receive from one source, versus 12 upload and 11 download streams with Peer to Peer Density) and don't expose your IP Address for nonsense attacks.

CBMM is a "cheater-bound matchmaking"
-
Yeah it’s been neither one. Of that I agree for sure.
-
Yeah honestly, it’s hardly better than SBMM, and Iron Banner is the worst example of it.
-
Concurrent numbers are low right now. CBMM doesn’t make it impossible to match with other countries or continents.
-
Bungie will never get it right. They don't know how. I avoid pvp like the plague anymore. I used to enjoy it a long time ago but there is no reason to even try to get better at this part of the game. I only go in to get my bounties/quests finished and then I'm done. Don't care what team wins or loses. Don't care about zones anymore. Don't give a rats @ss about any of it. It's the bane of destiny.

9 RespuestasMan, it must be real nice to not be able to tell the difference in connection quality. Thats SBMM for you, the majority of players have a good experience, while the good players are stuck with shitty connections and sweaty games
