Luck steps into the bar and rubs his arms to draw attention to the cold. “Someone touch the crab’s thermostat?”
English
-
I sit across the table from Luck. "Hello again Luck. How are things?"
-
He takes a long pull of his drink. “Fair. What’ve you been up to on the outside?”
-
I wave my hand around in the air casually. "This and that. Forming The Reef."
-
“It’s busy work, I imagine. Maintenance of magical energies isn’t really something you can prepare for until you’ve done it.”
-
"Indeed. The kraken is a pain to convince to move."
-
“Were you a previously-dormant, 40-meter monster of the depths, you might not like being told to move, either.”
-
"Good point. I bet I wouldn't. How have you been?"
-
“Good. I’ve been mostly handling the Valley’s dimensional openings, lately, as well as some stuff at Cimeries.” He pulls one of his daggers out of the air and balances it on one finger.
-
"What kind of stuff?" I whisper, interested.
-
His voice lowers. “The kinda stuff I’d have to kill someone over if they heard about it.” He snickers. “No, I’m kidding, just securing some sites on a couple planets.”
-
"I see unlike Ambition, you have a sense of humor." I chuckle, amused by the un-truth.
-
“Ahh, he has a sense of humor. It’s just that typically he’s the only one laughing, while you’re trying to remain alive.”
-
"Really? Who said I was trying to live? In fact, I still need to make a crystalsheath now I think of it." I chuckle.
-
“From what I’ve heard, you’re control of abyssialite has come a long way. You should be capable. Only difficulty is learning the combat forms.”
-
You said a crystalsheath looks like a blade on one end and a spike on the other?
"I bet. I'm a bit used to a sword, not going to lie."
-
Editado por Sylver: 9/1/2020 7:12:39 PM
Not quite. The bladesheath consists of a blade, the shardsheath a spike, while each arm of the crystalsheath can be both; it morphs between. That’s why you need “bladecasting,” or material control, to form and control them.
“Well, I like standard weapons as much as the next guy—or more so, but armsheaths have saved my hide more times then I can count.”
-
"Then if they are that valuable, then I shall learn them. I just hope Sylver's forging of Challenger's Mark isn't for nothing."
-
“Well, that’s where the fun begins. Y’see, Challenger’s Mark is made from abyssialite, and enchanted to hold the same properties. You have enough control over it to shift the sword into crystalsheaths. Rarely does he add such enchantments to his weapons, but Sylver took a gamble on you.”
-
My jaw drops. "Really?"
-
He shrugs. "For one such as his Proficiency, it just makes sense."
-
I pick my jaw up, enthralled. "What do you mean?"
-
"He's... a pretty good guesser. My fate manipulation is pretty high up there, but Sylver operates on a different scale."
-
"Wow. That's awesome actually."
-
Blaze and Fox walk over. “H-hey Luck...”
-
He nods in acknowledgement. “You look a little... cold. Well, the whole place does. Broke your liquid hydrogen cooling system or something?”
