What is feminism today
Lately I’ve been feeling like the “feminist movement” has turned into: anything that a woman do is A OK while men could say a woman is cute and be called objectifying

4 RespuestasIt seems that everyone in this post (including myself), Zardoz, being the only exception, agrees that modern feminism has turned into “women good, men bad” and not equality. Now for my opinion on the matter Why does modern feminism seem so forced? Why does it seem that every woman must be a successful somthing and men just sit there like wimps! The wage gap is nonexistent and if it isn’t then someone needs to take care of that real quick. But as in Man of War’s post why can they get away with doing less and still get paid the same? No the wage gap shouldn’t exist but do they want to be equal or get benefits? Cause all I hear is “we want benefits, just cause we were born the way we were”. If they want equality Why do they want to do less labor than men? Cause they can do the same amount of labor, it’s possible. If they want equality they why are they forcing men to become the wimpiest beings on the friggin planet? What happened to men being the pillars on which you could find support? Modern feminism has strayed from equality to benifits

The feminist movement has now broken into 2 types. Genuine feminists: these are the ones who encourage women to work hard and prove that women can do the same things as men. Their attitude is "if you can't beat them join them" Fake feminists: basically spiteful Karens who want to ruin men and make them feel useless. They don't want to work hard to be on par with men so want men to be pathetic and weak. Their attitude is "if you can't beat them destroy them"

I think one way feminism has changed "recently" is that there's much more awareness of stuff like class, race, etc. and how feminism needs to work for more women along those lines. "Lean In"-style feminism, only works for women for whom corporate success is actually an option. Hollywood created more roles for women, so if you're part of the super upper echelon of entertainers, you're in luck. Unilever ran inclusive ad campaigns which, idk, sold more moisturizing body wash. It's not that representation doesn't matter, or that powerful women don't matter; sexism is serious no matter who it affects. I work in an industry where women are massively underrepresented, and I'm glad that we work to do better by the women who work here and want to work here. But that kind of feminism doesn't represent enough women, and especially not those underprivileged in other ways, and I think feminism today does a better job of recognizing that.

6 RespuestasThey want their cake and eat it too. They want equality without working for it. They want equal opportunity without having to work as hard as men. This is seen the best in laws that require women to be on leading boards, and the absurd gap in requirements for women to get into military. To get into West Point you must be able to do at least 11 pull ups for men, only 2 for women. They want to be in the same jobs and positions without even having the same skills as the men.

Removal of some job roles women hold that feminists deem unacceptable. It can come down to objectifying but in most cases it's a job the person enjoys doing or a step to something bigger.
