Varvatos read an article about it two days ago, where it said that Kathleen Kennedy wants her vision of Star Wars to be made, made of course by her own inadequate friends, and she is roadblocking all of the actually interesting projects that people like Filoni, Faverau, and Kevin Feige are planning on doing (Thrawn tv show, Ashoka tv show, for example).
While Kennedy is doing this, the Lucasfilm masterminds are trying to push back against her so much that they hope to vote her out or have her resign.
Here’s the thing: from leaks and rumors and reports, if these guys do force Kennedy out they are seriously considering making the sequel trilogy non-canon. Meaning that Lucasfilm could remake episodes 7-9, close to the way Lucas originally wanted them to be.
Why does Varvatos not have the article link? Funny... he can’t find the article anymore, google took it down. He finds this ALWAYS happens when there is anything that makes Disney look bad. So, that being said, do you guys think what it said was for real? Do you think it’s all true or just lies? Seems pretty reasonable to say it’s true at this point in time, but also wouldn’t be surprised if it was a lie. Was it taken down for telling a lie just for views or was it actually true, and Disney wanted to silence it?

2 RespuestasI certainly hope so. Sequel trilogy is complete garbage. Worst writing ever.

I think there's two reasons why Disney won't retcon the sequel trilogy: 1. It makes them look bad. We all know that it's good to admit your mistakes when you make them, so maybe you can rectify the mistakes or at least know better for next time. However, Disney isn't supposed to make mistakes. They're the biggest, most imposing force in the entertainment industry; they can easily hire the best actors, the best directors, the best crew, the best animators, and the best whatever else they need for anything they can dream of. By declaring the sequels noncannon, they're basically saying that they -blam!-ed up even with the best everything modern day has to offer, and that makes them look grossly incomptent to other businesses, investors, employees, and consumers. It's way better for a large budiness to parade around their products as if they are gold, even if they may be garbage, because the everyday person might invest in gold, but they'll never invest in garbage. 2. A large portion of the star wars audience is not the star wars fanbase. Of course, the star wars fanbase is a massive part of the larger star wars audience, but i'd venture to say that there are more people watching the star wars movies as casual folks; people that don't keep up with star wars news, lore, drama, and who just watch the movies once or twice. If Disney declares the new movies noncanon, this larger audience will be confused when another sequel trilogy comes out and they won't understand how the sequels fit into the timeline because it does not. Disney has two choices here- angering the fanbase (which they have already done) and leaving the casual audience untouched or slightly satisfying the fanbase but confusing the casual audience. To me, the obvious choice is the first choice because a casual audience is much more likely to leave than the fanbase. Just look at the Density fanbase: those guys live in a perpetual state of salt and yet still they are willing to spend 6 hours a day playing density! The same goes for the star wars fanbase, no matter how angry you make the fanbase, i'm willing to bet at least 90% of them will have Disney plus and be first to the theatre when the next movie comes out. The only real way to kill a fanbase is erode it with many disasters over many years, which Disney has not done. The sequels were bad, yes, but Mandalorian, Rouge One, Solo, Clone Wars season 7, and Rebels all turned out decent or above. A casual audience, however, has lower expectations but a lower tolerance. If Disney makes a new sequel trilogy to replace the current one, the casual audience will see the first movie, get confused, then not bother for the next two.

1 RespuestaI think Revoke canon of the new trilogy and re-release the original trilogy in theaters. I dont know much about the books but why not just fallow book lore

9 RespuestasEditado por Fate: 6/30/2020 10:09:47 PMDisney’s downfall being too PG They should have made some R rated stuff oh well They can follow Nintendo into family friendly obscurity
-
Good, it should be decanonized
-
Quick google search brings us rumours of it getting erased. I've been seeing that for a while now. Another thing I've seen is talk of a re-release (like with JL) with all the parts that she cut. Which would be great however I can see it becoming a trend where films are released with the intention for it to fail, only to get a re-release. More money that way.

i dont think the rumor floats on water tbh. maybe ousting kennedy but i doubt theyll make sequels noncanon. 1) they've already been made 2) making it noncanon opens the gateway for anything to be deemed that. So if someone replaces kennedy and doesnt like the mandalorian or rouge one, then they can make it noncanon 3) i would rather leave the skywalker trilogy alone and focus on the high republic. if they want to return to the sequel era then they can make tv shows like the mandalorian.

Take this, Disney! Everything you touch falls apart! FOR THE KIDS!!!!

Just give lucasfilm to Favreau and Filoni, those two are amazing.

3 RespuestasI’m so over Star Wars. They should of just made the original trilogy and stopped there. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

My money is on "baseless rumor".

Yeah good luck with that. They’ve tarnished Star Wars.

Yeah, the sequels got a lot of hate. Some of it justified, and some of it people need to get over. Hate and flaws aside, the movies cost a lot of money to make, advertise, produce merchandise, etc, so redacting it would be silly considering how much money they invested in it. If they must remake/reboot anything, do the prequels. Get Dave in as director, and the CW writers as, well, the writers. The sequels were pretty bad, yes. But when compared to the absolute shit that is the prequels, it’s no competition on which one deserves to be redone. Even if you like the prequels, you have to agree there are many weak elements, missed opportunities, and that it could’ve been better. In the end, no movie will probably be claimed to be non-canon, as the amount of time, money, lore, and public understanding is too large. Yes, you can redact the comics and video games, however redacting a movie that was kinda a big deal, is simply a silly, and foolish thing for Disney to do. I doubt it’s real.

The new trilogy wasn’t bad. The original trilogy wasn’t great. The prequels were the prequels.

If what you have told me is true, then you will have gained my trust.

2 RespuestasNice try, but you already pulled this a few weeks ago.

There's at least 2 different videos that talk about it on youtube that I've seen. There's also a video about how Dave Filoni attended a women's conference for something or other (pride or some such I can't be bothered to remember) and he basically sided completely with K.K and drug the fans through the mud for some cheap laughs. My trust in him was a bit shaken by that, I'll admit. If he doesn't continue the downwards spiral from there, everything should be fine, but still.

That would be good.
