Back in D1, I lost track of how many days I sank into the game - I couldn't wait to play. If ever I had an excuse I'd play it. I even took a couple of days off work. Even though according to Luke it's boring to keep using the same guns, I had a BLAST using Black Hammer, Fatebringer and Gjallahorn together. I was literally so powerful and in a fireteam with mates, we were unstoppable. I kept playing and wanted to collect everything - I think I had pretty much every shader, emblem, sparrow, ship and ghost in the game and each one felt meaningful and I loved ticking them off my 'list'.
Flash forward to today and I've not been able to bring myself to play for c. 4 months. I am interested in the game still (I wouldn't be on here otherwise!) but the game itself frankly sucks right now. And the longer I leave it, the less likely I feel like I will return.
Anyone else miss the fun of the old days like I do?

I don’t get “it’s boring to use the same gun forever” argument. Okay your bored of using that gun, then switch it. There’s a whole buffet to choose from. I never use the same gun most of the time, but I like the fact that I can bring an old gun with me to new activities when I want to. I like knowing I have the choice. But no, choice is bad and the only thing that matters is the meta. If you don’t play the meta then apparently your bad. Honestly I’d rather just have weapons that are outperforming other nerfed. Now they aren’t as good as they used to be but hey they are till usable. I just don’t see why me only wanting to use austinger or python is a problem. I still want to play the game, shouldn’t that be the only thing that matter?

1 RespuestaI agree but when this game is fun its a very great game
-
2 RespuestasI miss running through heroic strikes over and over, bc you could get strike specific loot. Don’t know why they changed it. Heroic strikes are effectively useless now.
-
Add me if you are on Xbox. I still love Destiny and prefer it to d2
-
Yes destiny 1 they put effort in, destiny 2 was all about the money cause thats ALL they care about. Not like ive played destiny for almost 6 years. Its a joke theyre lazy and they dont care about the community. Its lead me to rainbow six siege a game that cares for its community and listens to your feedback but bungie of course dont!

I do miss the old days
-
I still play D1 for that reason.

2 RespuestasI miss the old game, the grind was much more fun as well it felt more rewarding, however the progression, end game (to an extent) and quality of life changed in D2 are much much better in my opinion. Theres alot more to do in D2, it's just most of it is boring. However it seems you may have some nostalgia filter glasses on if you think D1 is a totally superior game.
-
10 RespuestasProgression was bad, but not nearly as bad as it is now.

6 Respuestas100%, nothing will ever come close to a gjallarhorn/fatebringer/Crux/mythoclast drop. in vanilla d1, legendaries and exotics were RARE. i played solo and was so stoked whenever I received a new weapon or armor piece. I still have my very first legendary, Shadow Price, with outlaw and third eye. I remember when I saved up enough strange coins to buy my first exotic, voidfang vestments, from xur. my first exotic weapon came from a phogoth nightfall, it was icebreaker. I remember my first vault of glass, one of the best gaming experiences of my life. being completely new to not only looter shooters, but shooters themselves, I was blown away by vog. I got the mythoclast my first run, my fatebringer on my 20 somethingth run. Gjallarhorn. I will admit, the concept of the most powerful gun being locked behind rng was not a pleasant experience to some. for me, it gave me motivation to do the nightfall every week, to do the raid, and to help others every week to hopefully witness someone's gjally drop reaction. I got mine from the archon priest nightfall, and I was jumping up and down out of excitement. nothing in d2 can equate to that. I know that a lot of my sentiment for d1 is nostalgic, but d2 doesn't offer the same excitement. when I got mountaintop, I said, 'thank god im done with that quest'. same with recluse, same with loaded question, and all the other powerful and noteworthy guns in d2

Yes but I miss halo more then anything d1 was super Grindy too (memba running routes for chests?) Halo was pure addicting fun gameplay . capture the flag with warthogs btb big maps and tons of vehicles and modes? Destiny has potential to be better then halo but it's devolving into a depressing grind for light levels and bounties completions smh.
-
2 RespuestasI do remember when there was a good Destiny game.
-
You’re gonna make me cry man
-
1 RespuestaMan that feels like soooooo long ago.
-
16 RespuestasVoG coming back is nice. Raids from D1 were just so much better than what we have now. I have little to no interest in them.
-
1 RespuestaTheyve crammed so much irrelevant content into d2...yes there are more things to do but most are pointless/boring. Quality over quantity should be what bungie focus on. In d1 we only had patrols, strikes, raids and pvp...but it was fun and rewarding to do.
-
3 RespuestasIt seems you’ve forgotten about the extensive content droughts D1 had after every expansion. Even though D2 doesn’t have the same feel as D1, i’d say the game is far more fleshed out and substantial than its predecessor.
-
2 RespuestasI think it's funny how some are bringing up the content drought even though it wasn't as bad as some are trying to put it out to be. One of the things about the first game that is better than this one that made it fun to play and want to spend time playing was the content that was created that kept players engaged. This game has more content but most of it has no value that it's just content that is there with no real incentive to play other than just leveling up and running bounties. That isn't what destiny was created for but what it has become today. These seasons did nothing for this game at all verses what Age of triumph and the April update did for the first game. Sure, the seasons are a content filler so you don't have that drought, but it's content that will be thrown away because it's content that has no value. I rather take that drought with content that adds value like how Age of triumph had any day over this nonsense.

1 RespuestaD1 vet here and I personally still enjoy D2, but I agree D1 was just overall more exciting
-
7 RespuestasRemember in D1 when the entire community constantly complained about lack of content? Remember for the first like 2 years people hated Activision claiming they chopped up D1 and piece mealed it as expansions just to get more money? Well I do and all these people trying to remember the “Good Days” are suffering from the grass is always greener syndrome.
-
D1 needs to die
-
Of all the things that never happened, having fun all day in vanilla D1 never happened the most.
-
2 RespuestasThese D1 trips down memory lane never bring up how toxic and imbalanced it was.
-
1 RespuestaAt the beginning of Shadowkeep and up until Half of season of undying I felt almost the same about D2 lile Ive felt in Y1 of D1. It went downhill fast though:/
-
Speak for yourself. I still have fun.
-
1 RespuestaI agree. My memories are with D1, but I still love the dream of Destiny...and I love Bungie...just drains me sometimes to think about getting on. I think the years of imaginative grind have worn the minds and souls of their fans. Ran the cash cow into the ground.
