One thing is a client side fix which requires an actual patch because of the hard coded new custom button layout.
The other one is a server side fix. Of course the server side fix is faster since they don't need to update the client for that. Some knowledge about game developing might come in handy before posting rants.
Don't know why everyone acts so surprised...

So in other words, Bungie knew for 6 years that any change to movement/controls that wasn't thoroughly tested to make sure it was bug-free prior to implementation in the live game would be a huge problem if anything screwed up because it would take longer to fix... yet they chose to push out a new control scheme without proper testing. :P It's not surprising seeing as how it's Bungie, but it's no less frustrating knowing that this was going to happen. :P

So you’re telling me this wasn’t tested before released and takes over a week to fix this code? Still calling bs but thanks for enlightening me

Some knowledge that testing is part of game development might help.

Testing seems to be the one thing that is very foreign to most game companies now, sadly.

Agreed and test is always the discipline that is under the pump schedule wise. But a lead that doesn't understand that is a bloody idiot. I mean look at the latest issue with sprint (and it is one in a long list of shoddy releases)..."let's bring in controller customisation that no one asked for and release it"???? Seriously, a 2 second run by anyone even slightly familiar with the game and you would swiftly realise that movement (a game fundamental) was f****d on a controller. They missed it, so they either neglected to test fully or they have no one slightly familiar with the game...once again Bungholio incompetence shines.

I mean it was a known thing to happen for the last 2ish years, it wasn't a priority fix. Chances are they tried to fix the engram glitch itself first but when that was taking too long decided it was better to have less of a glitch they can't fix rather than more of one, and fixed the forge auto loading you into the next one.

Except that Bungie also knew about the AFK Forge issue since Forges came in... yet chose to do nothing about it till now, when players can use it to bypass tedious Power level grind? And AFAIK Bungie have still not fixed Forge matchmaking, so people are still ending up starting a Forge alone and then two more people magically appear just as the Forge timer runs out, only to break up the 3 person team that the game just finished matchmaking for, just to rinse and repeat.

It’s becous it’s seams like they have no gaming testers and they are AAA, maybe that is the reason.
